For quite a while (around 3 months) I’ve been looking for a microphone interface to go with my RODE Podmic but it has to have DSP features such as Compressor , De easer , EQ and noise gate , unfortunately the only ones I could find where the Focusrite Vocaster which does have Compressor but it’s not in depth and only has a single slider , the only other one I could find that matched what I was looking for was the universal audio Apollo twin which costs between £600 - £700! After going for the Rodecaster Duo - initial impressions are , software is fantastic and I love the fact everything can be done on either the device itself or the software. Using audacity to check the noise floor via ACX test with gain set to 58db , below are the results or check pics. - mic muted 58db gain: noise floor = -83.06db - mic unmuted 58db gain: noise floor = -77.72db (untreated room) The DSP functions such as the compressor , noise gate and de esser work very well and it makes your voice sound more full and more present. The only downside I found as soon as I took it out of the box is , the build quality , when I buy high end audio equipment I expect a weighty very nice feeling product that gives me assurance it’ll last years , but unfortunately with the Rodecaster duo , it just doesn’t feel as nice as I’d hoped , if it was all made of metal or mostly metal construction It would be without a doubt the best mic interface I’ve ever had , I just don’t feel £348 of quality to be honest and only time will tell if it lasts. It definitely still deserves 5 stars from me because you can tell allot of effort and dedication has gone into the software and OS , I really appreciate that. If Rode can improve the overall quality of their next device and give it some more weight , I’ll be buying it 100% The headphone amp is very loud and I cannot go above half way without exploding my ear drums , I only have cheap Goodmans headphones that cost about £10 so I cannot comment on the performance of higher powered headphones. I also love the fact you get a quality control certificate in the box that actual humans have checked and signed , that’s a very nice additive and I’ve never seen that before! Mine also came with a EU plug which isn’t great but you just need to buy a IEC C5 cable , AKA a clover leaf 3 pin lead , I got a 1.5m from Amazon for £4.76 and it works fine. Overall I absolutely love this devices software and hardware capabilities , the build quality and weight isn’t bad , I just expected more.

Una vez que agregas esta consola a tu equipo, no habrá vuelta atrás!. Si te interesa asegurar un audio profesional a tu contenido, este dispositivo sentará la base para conseguirlo, sin embargo debes tomar en cuenta que sola no basta, si no la acompañas de un minimo de trato acustico al estudio y un micrófono decente, y si no estás dispuesto a esta inversión, no es una buena idea la compra. Al comprarla sabia muy poco de estos cacharros, ya que soy fotógrafo y no me planteaba hacer streaming hasta que lo hice, de ahí en adelante comenzó esta aventura hasta que, luego de leer todo lo que pude y ver todas las revisiones disponibles en linea, decidí hacerlo, y la verdad es que me alegra haberlo hecho ya que no solo he aprendido acerca de como se desplaza el sonido, sino que entré en serio en el mundillo de la creación de contenido. La Rodecaster duo es mi mejor herramienta ya que hacer streaming se convierte en un placer una vez que aprendes a utilizar esta maravila tecnológica. La facilidad de enrutar, equalizar y transmitir audio con la misma calidad de un profesional, es asombrosa! Puedes conectar 2 pcs y de esa forma transmitir en directo tus sesiones de juego. Para mi es perfecta para mis podcast en directo, con una calidad de audio, y me repito, profesional, eso si, pasando por la "curva de aprendizaje" lógica, que a mi se me hizo larga ( por mi edad) pero muy divertida y gratificante. Tengo un año utilizando esta joya y a pesar que he tenido 2 veces que hacer uso de la garantía por el mismo fallo que no es otro que el botón principal dejó de funcionar produciendo la imposibilidad de ajustar ningún valor de EQ NOISE GATE, DE ESSER, COMPRESOR, etc, y aún asi le doy 5☆, ya que el servicio de garantía de ZENTRALMEDIA, se han portado como debe ser, reemplazando la unidad luego de comprobar el fallo, de hecho, hoy estoy esperando la llegada de la sustituta. Solo espero que este fallo no se repita por 3era vez ya que mientras la garantia esté vigente, la reemplazaràn, pero al caducar, habría que pagar la reparación. Insisto, aún asi le sigo dando 5☆, El grupo de plug ins de EQ son, una gozada y hacen que la calidad del audio sea la misma que escuchaba en mis años juveniles en mis estaciones de radio favoritas, gracias a un pequeño tratamiento acústico y un micrófono "decente" Sm7B, RE20, SENHEISSER, o algún otro que haga la dupla perfecta. Configurarla por primera vez es muy fácil aún sin tener demasiados conocimientos acerca de sonido. La interfaz es amigable e intuitiva, incluso para un neófito de 61 años! Cada Euro invertido en esta consola, te será devuelto convertido en un sonido que te hará recordar el "AMERICAN TOP 40 y a Casey Kasem, quien nos deleitó con esa maravillosa voz y esa calidad de sonido que, aquellos que vivimos esa época, seguro recordamos.
