OK, I'm impressed
I initially purchased a similar 1"x30" belt/6" wheel grinder from Harbor Freight for 1/3 the price and I got just what I paid for - garbage. Parts did not fit and it about vibrated off my bench. I returned it. I purchased this Buck Tool version and I couldn't be more impressed. My purpose is knife blade shaping/sharpening and this machine is perfect for that purpose. The slower speed doesn't unduly heat the blade. The Angle Guide from Tamrod slips over the belt limit plate and give you precise angles from 10º to 45º. It runs smoothly and quietly with sufficient power. Belts run true and change is fast and easy. And I didn't need a second mortgage to buy it. For my purpose it's the best one on Amazon.1 yr later: Runs perfectly. No vibration. Robust construction, ample power. All parts available for replacement (imagine that); not a throw-away tool. For knife making, sharpening, tool shaping/sharpening/fabrication/polishing it's the cat's meow.

Seems very well made
It was relatively easy to assemble and the 120 grit is good for scuffing up golf shafts to prep for use.The Allen wrench holders are really stiff but if you slide them in from the front they work. I couldn't snap them in.As far as longevity goes, I expect it to last a long time.

Accurate belt tracking
well built with accurate tracking and easy belt changes. At the current price this is a good investment on my knife sharpening business

Good value and quality versus many much higher priced units with poorer quality
Also have another older bucktool 4" sander which is very nice. Bucktools machines do run / sound a bit "rough" though probably not the right word. This 1x30 slow speed / 6 grinder seems to be perfect for sharpening knifes. Added one of the more expensive angle gauges to it and works like a charm. It does sometimes bog down upon start up after it hasn't been used for a few days. Not sure of issue. Belts aren't too tight ... seems to be inherent to the motor / controller mechanism??? But otherwise, love it.

Exactly what you were hoping for!!
This is a great machine and all you really need if you want to seriously sharpen. It’s so good you’ll want another!! So easy to change belts so make sure you have an assortment on hand!! The vacuum port actually works as it should!! Who knew!!??

Works great!
I bought the low speed 1x30 sanding combo for sharpening knives. I have only used it on one streak knife so far, but it was impressive. I put a 400 grit paper on it as well as a leather strop wheel on the grinder side. It cut paper like the U-tube videos after about a minute no problem. My father was a tool and die maker and he told me when I was growing up to not let the metal get too hot, and this unit does that without any problems.

Mush better than I expected.
Finally set this up after a few weeks and was pleasantly surprised. The build was decent and overall looked like they put some thought into it. I wanted a slower belt sander than my previous on that died , I use it for sharpening so the slower belt speed doesn't heat up the steel as fast. Nice touches are the belt cover is easy to open and the tensioner is very convenient making changing belts quick and easy. I haven't used it much yet but don't see any reason why it isn't up to the task. While it's not a top of the line sander for major production it certainly fills the gap for lower use or specialized uses in a shop or for the layman. Now I'm interested in other products from Bucktool.

Is the Bucktool low speed 1x30 good for sharpening knives? Yes!
We run a knife sharpening business in North Vancouver, BC. called Cove Blades. We also provide training on how to sharpen on 1x30 machines and how to set up your sharpening business. After trying numerous other machines over several years and even building some up from sewing machine assemblies, I can safely say this machine is by far the best out of the box 1x30 machine for sharpening knives and scissors.1 - It's low speed, perfect for sharpening, and for learning, other high speed ~3600 rpm machines will burn blades quickly if you are not paying attention, not great for training.2 - It's well built, very little vibration and feels rugged3 - Dust collection, port at the back of the machine, not the side4 - Angle Guides, it will take almost any standard angle guide with little or no mods5 - Reliable, never had an issueNearly all of our students have one, highly recommended, and no, we are not affiliated at the time of writing this review.

J'aime la fiabilité des outils Bucktool
Super de pouvoir changer les bandes rapidement et d'avoir la sortir en arrière pour la balayeuse

Very functional and well designed.
The fact this sander operates at 1750 rpm as opposed to 34-3500 rpm is a real benefit for several applications. I really like the belt tensioning system as well as ease with which belts can be changed. I bought this unit for knife sharpening.
