Compact and easy to use.
I bought a pair of Milo for waterskiing. So much easier than hand signals. I haven’t used them for cycling yet but plan to. I’ve paired mine to a Shokz headset for noisy backgrounds when the volume isn’t enough. Super easy to do. The mounting system is super clever. Locks on so easily it’s hard to believe it will work but it does. Very pleased with the product, both hardware and software.

Great at communicating between distances
Having looked around for what seems an age for communication devices for mountain biking I took a chance on these. They are not perfect, the main draw back is at close range there is an echo in communication, even-though I have made the software updates. After three rides we are still getting use to how these work, they are not complicated by any means. On our last trip my Husbands lost battery power whilst mine was still at 80% (3 hour ride), I just need to understand why. They work spectacularly when there is a distance between the milo users, usually there wouldn’t be any communication possible however with these my Husband and I were still able to communicate. P.s - these are not for having world peace discussions, but brilliant for keeping in contact with each other, pointing out items of interest and 'mind the potholes', etc. UPDATE: After contacting Milo customer services, they have advised updating the Milo’s to the latest software just released which seems to have resolved the battery problem and also the close distance echo. I definitely recommend these. EDIT: after 18 months of use for mountain biking I would wholeheartedly recommend these, these are not cheap to purchase, would we be without them, no. Great buy.

Not good in water
They don’t work very well in water. Loose contact within 30m. Customer service is extremely slow. Weeks before they respond

Milo is game changing
Fantastic product, kitesurfing, skiing ( esp in groups or with your children) biking - the list goes on. Speaker quality and ease of use are top quality. It’s a must have.

Perfect for our Family!
Let me start by saying that I have never written a product review before… only service reviews. But with Milo I feel compelled to. Having scoured the internet for months looking for consistently good reviews on suitable walkie-talkies for our ski and surf trips, I finally bit the bullet and ordered 3 Milo Communicators for our family! And I’m SO glad that I did! They arrived beautifully packaged, reminding me of an Apple product in their simplicity and style. We opted for the red so they could be easily found in bags etc and so we would easily be able to check if everyone was wearing theirs. The buttons on the communicators were really simply labelled in the box making them fool-proof to set up. Our children had fun recording their names and within minutes they were set up and linked – literally by just holding them all together and pressing a button at the same time. I love this as I’m the kind of person who would be very put off if it was a faff setting them up. I was advised to update them by the Milo customer service team - who incidentally were super speedy at getting back to me when I had initial questions before ordering. I linked all 3 devices to an app on my phone and updated - this update is apparently how the devices do not interfere with each other when you’re close to someone one else in your group - the wonders of science! We are a family of 4 however we decided to order just 3 to begin with. This worked perfectly for our first ski trip as my poor husband was left at home with a broken shoulder so it was just me skiing with my two boys. I was so relieved that I would have a way of reaching my two teenagers as they bombed down the slopes in front of me as I was the only adult with them. We used the action clips which came in the pack and I easily attached to my rucksack strap – my boys decided to have them round their necks using the lanyards which are also provided or sometimes they attached them to their chest pockets with the clips. We absolutely loved them! Generally when you’re skiing you don’t separate from your group massively but definitely far enough away so that it’s impossible to hear each other shouting. The range of the Milos is great and the audio quality is excellent. I was easily able to tell my children to wait at a certain points ahead or if I was skiing at the front I was able to forewarn them about icy patches or when we went off piste to warn them of rocks/hazzards. It was also really lovely hearing how much fun they were having as they skied down, which usually of course you can't hear. My 15 year old has chosen skiing as one of his GCSE options which entails a lot of videoing on the slopes. This meant I was having to ski ahead and set up my video before letting him know what I needed him to do… carve, schuss, parallel turn etc. The Milos were AMAZING for this. No more shouting up the hill, or falling out over miscommunication or not being ready to video etc, it made it all so much easier. For someone who loves to take action shots as well, the Milos meant I was able to prepare my camera and then let my kids know when I was ready for them to ski down for the shot. Just brilliant! So many times in the past while skiing, we’ve had to go an alternative route down because our children have skied ahead and we’ve had no choice but to follow them. The Milos meant that I was always able to let whoever was in front know where we planned to go, or to ask them to wait. We learned quickly after our first day using the Milos, the importance of pressing the easy ‘mute’ button before going to the mountain restaurant loo and having a gossip whilst waiting in the queue! My youngest son who was sat waiting at the table was most amused! Since returning from our ski trip we’ve used the Milos whilst my two boys have been out surfing. I wore the other Milo whilst walking the dog up and down the beach which worked brilliantly in terms of them being able to let me know which black wetsuited silhouette in the water they were (they all look the same from a distance!) and they were able to let me know when they were about to catch a good wave so I could watch/take a photo. The sound is lovely and clear even above the sound of the waves. And I finally have a way of calling them in from the sea when I’m ready to leave, instead of just waving my arms around like a crazy lady. The downside for our boys is that they have no excuse for ignoring me now. So… if you haven’t guessed… we are SUPER pleased with the Milos and can’t wait to use them for our summer mountain biking trips.

Poor
I was super excited to get these, they have been on my radar for years. Hoped the price would come down but it never did so we finally ordered a pair. Awful. Complete waste of time. Too quiet. We bought ours for rock climbing and were bitterly disappointed.

Milos arent cheap but for good reason, let me explain. I've been using Milos with my family and buddies over the summer mountain biking, kayaking and jet skiing. One of my boys also learned e-foiling and used the Milos with his instructor. They're a game changer compared to walkie-talkies because you can just talk. That's it. You talk, Milo picks up your voice and everyone in your group hears you over the speaker in their Milo. Hands free. You don't need to stop what you're doing to hold a button like a walkie-talkie. To me this makes all the difference. With Milo you hear everyones laughs and whoops and woahs and oh-$#!% moments - so just feel way more together and everythings just way more fun. Setup is dead simple. Turn them on, hold the side buttons to get them grouped, clip it on and go. Easy. And the group step just needs to be done one time. Range is great, on the water we were probably getting close to a mile but its hard to judge distance - far enough that I couldnt see my wife on the beach with me on a jet ski. The noise reduction if crazy good too, even when going fast - I had it on my shoulder when I was jetskiing and my wife could hear me no problem! On e-foils they're a blast too, they are water proof and after you fall in you just press the big button on the front to clear out the water. On bike trails with trees we get maybe a half mile? Hard to say exactly, but way out of sight and shouting range from eachother anyway. The Milos use a mesh network so they link everyone together in a line when you spread out. On most rides, with 4 people, we just never get far enough apart to disconnect. But the really nice thing is that the Milos tell you when you do go out of range of anyone else in your group. This is really helpful since it lets you know if someone stopped for some reason, and then it automatically tells you when people come back in range. And since every Milo can record it's own name, you know who's where. The Milo really just lets you have fun riding without having to constantly worry about going too fast or too slow, or having to stop at every fork in the trail. So Milos are not walkie talkies. Its kinda hard to describe and you really have to experience it to get it, but they just make your adventures together so much better! I hope this helps people.

I bought 2 Milos for myself and my husband and they arrived just in time for us to use on a Northern Lights cruise up the coast of Norway. The Milos performed brilliantly. We used them both on the ship and on land. On the ship, we could easily talk to each other between decks. We tried with one of us in our cabin on deck 8 and the other going down to deck 5 to pick something up. Perfect clear voice quality all the way down and back up. We never lost connection while using Milos on the ship or on land where we sometimes were pretty far from each other, so the range was more than enough for our needs. Milos were also great for when one of us watched for Northern Lights action while the other was inside. One time I got off the ship to buy a souvenir while he stayed behind. It was so nice to keep talking and coordinating without holding a phone or radio. I could just keep my hands toasty in my pockets while heading off to the nearby store. We even used them while dog sledding. We kept one and lent the other to friends riding on a different sled. This was an awesome way to share an adventure. And even though they had never used Milos before, Milo is so easy to use we hardly needed to explain anything about them when handing one over.
