can I buy just the spring for these? They don't seem to last long and they break

It is highly doubtful Amazon will have it, but you might be able to contact the manufacturer and get a spring from them.

Can this cut through armored cable as well?

I do not think this will cut through armored cable. It will cut through vinyl and rubber, but just can't see where it will handle the armored material.
