A fantastic, versatile strobe for a great price!
These studio strobes from Neewer represent terrific value for money.Solidly constructed from extruded aluminium for the main part of the body they also have tough abs front and rear end caps that surround the flash tube and control panel respectively, suggesting these units should last for years with reasonable use and care, there is also a handle at the rear of the strobe for easy carrying and the best of it is, it uses the Bowens 'S' type fitting for which there are scores of different light modifiers available. The strobes powerful 400w output is controlled by a rotary knob and offers 50 incremental increases in power from 1.0 to 6.0 which is shown on the rear led display, the modelling lamp can be turned on or off and this also has proportional modelling lighting linked to the flash output, which really helps when setting up multiple strobes, as the effect can be instantly assessed. The whole unit is fan cooled and is very quiet in operation, there is something that can give your model a surprise though, the flash will fire to discharge the capacitor whenever the power level is decreased so it's worth mentioning it to them at the start of the session, rather than them being caught unaware and startled. At around £85 each they are a steal for what they offer but I was a bit canny and purchased three strobes for a grand total of £148, by picking up 'Used/Good as new' units that truely are an excellent buy when they are available, two of the units were totally unused and I couldn't find a reason why they were reduced to £53. 99 each, the third one I purchased for £39.99 did have the screw that tightens up to the stand cross threaded but I cleared that using the actual screw fitting in a matter of minutes, it now turns freely and that was the only fault with the unit.So to end my review, I can only say that I am totally satisfied with my Neewer studio strobes and the vesatility they offer, I look forward to many more happy sessions using them and can heartily recommend them to anybody looking for a quality, cost effective and versatile solution to their studio lighting needs.

An excellent light, and the price is superb!
An excellent cheap light, I really love itI am a pro photographer and Ive been using all sorts of lights including profoto, bowens, etc.I don't want to spend money on lights because I break them so I want cheap lights but not all good.I just bought this head the 400W one, and I can say I am really really happy with this light, it is quiet, really light, fast and the mount is excellent, other cheap lights the mounts are really bad, they don't take the modifiers properlyAnd by the way, in the listing it says it comes with Strobe Flash Light, Modeling Lamp, Power Cord, Sync Cord but mine also came with an aluminium 18cm reflector like in the picture, great!I can really recommend this light, it's perfect!

It stopped working after 4 months of purchase
It stopped working after 4 months of purchase, flash is not triggering. It only does intermittently. I don't know whom to approach for repair?

Reliable Flash
I bought the 300w in sept 18 and bought the 400w in Nov 18, found both good value, although I would buy the 400w rather than the 300w, a heads up, the steel used for the mount is a little soft, the 300w stripped the bolt, (£2 repair) no issue so far with the 400w.Very good value, no issues at all with the light, found using them very easy, I had never used a studio flash until I bought these, takes a couple of hours to familiarize your self with them, and away you go.The 400w feels well built, there's a good confident heft to them.Reliable, Safe Studio Lights,No worries.........

Is it still a good deal?
I had been looking at this light for a while. In fact I must be cursed as previously I ordered a studio kit but Amazon cancelled within a day or two saying out of stock. So I got a notification of a lightning deal for this item. It has been reduced from £80 to £58So I thought I would give it a go, and see if one of my other stands would fit.The light arrived the next day, there was some small puncture marks to the outer box, but the one inside with the light in was ok. I opened the inner box and the first thing I saw was a scratch on the side of the light. Then the plastic handle looked dirty. Took the top of the light off and there was paint missing where it looked as though it had been screwed on and off a number of times to wear it.My thinking? This looks used. No problem I thought, got this on prime, will get a replacement........nope. The only option I have is to return the item for a credit of my lightning deal price. Then purchase again at full price. So, is it still a good deal? £22 off the normal price, but unfortunately it appears I have a second hand item.I've since plugged the light in and used the test button and it does flash. I'm in two minds about what to do.It is quite light, has a long power cable and the recycling times for the flash were quicker then I expected. I don't have any pics yet, now if I use it and am impressed with the results I will keep it. But it has put me off purchasing neewer again.**Update. Plugged it in to test and had no power. Pushed the power cable in a bit more and appears the plastic housing has movement as it clicks if a slightly move the cable. I suspect it would eventually loosen and stop working. Guess it's time to send it back

Excellent strobe
My only complaint is the soft box I purchased that was recommended to fit with this strobe doesn’t fit so avoid purchasing it also make sure you purchase heavy duty stand

A good, low cost strobe
The strobe arrived exactly when expected (less than 24 hours from order) and, although, I only used it once appears to be very good value for money. It is, of course, very basic and does not have ttl or any built-in 2.4g control, but as I only needed to use it in a manual mode it was fine for my uses.
