Counted cross stitch pattern
I have only worked with counted cross stitch and prefer that compared to a stamped fabric. I love creating from a blank canvas. Some of the reviews mentioned that the DMC floss would break or fray. I found a solution to this problem. I traded out the needles with ones with a slightly larger eye and have had no issues with fraying or breakage. The needles provided in this kit have too small of an eye in my opinion causing the floss to be challenging to thread and to break. This is turning out to be a beautiful print and cannot wait to finish it!

A beautiful kit- so user-friendly!
It’s a relief to get a kit so well organized! All the colors are identified with an easy-access holder. The pattern is clear/ easy to follow- and not confusing! I’d highly recommend this brand- you won’t be disappointed or frustrated!

Worried about the grid lines? The stamped colors? Read this review!
Seems like there's always someone who writes a bad review about the blue gridlines on these stamped cross stitches. If they'd read the instructions, they'd see that YOU SOAK/RINSE THE FABRIC IN WATER AFTER YOU FINISH IT to get rid of the gridlines AND the stamped colors underneath your stitches and along the edges. Yes, the colors all come off (it just takes soaking and several rinses). Also, people complain about the colors of the stamped image not matching the color of the floss. Again, if they'd read the instructions, they'd see this is intentional. Imagine how hard it would be to really tell if you placed a stitch if the color of the stamped area was the SAME as the floss. The third thing people complain about is how stiff the fabric is. Don't worry about that! While it does prevent you from using a hoop, you can just fold the fabric over to get to the areas you want to stitch. The fabric DOES soften up a lot as you work. Just deal with it until then. The edges are stitched well, so you don't have to worry about them coming unraveled, etc. ...And finally, to address the shortage of floss. This is a legitimate issue. I have done several cross stitches by this company and every single one was short on several colors (I'm pretty good about conserving thread, so I don't think it's me). However, Michael's has always had all the colors in stock that I was short, so I just picked them up there based on the DMC # listed on the fabric/instructions. I could have reached out to the company and requested the short colors, but I just wanted to get them and be done. (Always being short on some floss is why this review is only getting 4 stars.) These color-coded stamped cross stitches are SO much easier to do than the old kind of stamped ones (where "stamped" just meant that an X was printed on the fabric) or the counted ones. These kind make cross stitching a relaxing thing you really can do while you're watching TV because you aren't constantly having to refer back to the chart. My tip: Usually it's recommended that you start in the middle of a cross stitch and work your way out. I end up with a tangle of floss that way when I try to get just one color out at a time. So I have started doing all of the #1 colors before moving to #2, etc. Wrapping any extra floss around the little floss holders (from Michael's) and labeling them with the DMC number means you don't have to deal with tangles and that you'll have it handy if you find you missed a stitch of that color here and there. Plus, you may find you need a little extra of that color for your next cross stitch! Every cross stitch I've gotten from this company has ended up being gorgeous. Oh, one more thing to note: I do the 11-ct. sized ones because the "squares" you stitch in are bigger (thought still quite small). Check the final measurements of the piece...many of these 11-ct. ones end up surprisingly big. The 14-ct. fabric has holes you work in that are smaller, which means your final product will be smaller (but harder to see if you have sucky eyes like me)...just something to consider if you aren't sure whether to get 11 ct. or 14 ct.!

Stunning…
This is a gift for a friend, doctor who cross stitches to keep his surgical skills well honed. And his way of relaxing. Also sails. Favorite color is blue. His cross stitching projects are nothing shy of amazing art of museum quality. This caught my eye to gift for Fathers Day. He's going to be wondering where I found this treasure. He’s my daughter’s father in law. Can’t wait to see the finished results! Ty Amazon!

I LOVE THIS PROJECT
I ordered this item with my sister in mind. I love the finished product and I added some words of encouragement because it is what she needed at that moment and she was very moved when she received it. I told her that Jesus himself was praying for her and she felt it that way. This image helped her a lot to cope with her treatment and thank God she no longer has cancer.

Great, Fun, Easy, Fully Equipped Project Kit
Fantastic product. I used to cross stitch as a child and wanted something to ease me back in, a simple design so I could concentrate on re learning the stitches and techniques and this was PERFECT.The pattern is printed perfectly and lines up with the holes in the fabric so there’s no wondering which color goes where. There’s a symbol chart on the fabric itself and included in the directions so you know exactly which thread to use. It included two needles. The threads DO need to be separated, they come in bundles of 6 strands (as most threads do) but it’s easy enough to split in half for the 11ct pattern. I had more than enough thread to finish the pattern. My only concern was how stiff the fabric is to begin with. It’s so stiff coming out of the package it didn’t even feel like fabric, more plasticky and rough. However, the more I worked with it and moved it around, the softer and more pliable it became so by the end of the project it was as supple as any other fabric and I was able to make a nice decorative pillowcase with it.It also shipped quicker than expected- it was on my doorstep exactly two days after I ordered it.Yes, the dye from the pattern washes out just fine. It took a little time (about 45 minutes) to carefully but thoroughly hand wash the whole thing and completely rinse the pattern colors out but as long as you’re patient with it you should have no problems.

Beware! Not enough thread included
I purchased this kit a couple of years ago and held off on writing a review until it was finished. I enjoyed doing this project and am very pleased with it. However, I ran out of 7 colours and had to either buy new skeins or dig out leftovers from other projects I had on hand. I'm not one to overuse thread so this is definitely an issue on the supplier's part.

Great, easy, giftable, project!
This was a great purchase! I bought it so I could work on it and then gift the finished piece to my friend for her bday.I'll be frank, I was not a complete beginner before I bought this set, but I think it is exceedingly easy for a beginner to follow. Very clear instructions, pattern was printed clearly and is durable (I have VERY sweaty hand when stitching and the print BARELY smudged). On thing I would say is this is a very large and maybe complex? Pattern for a beginner. When it came, the fabric was very stiff, but after using it, the fabric has softened considerably and is very pliable (as is the case with most cross stitch fabric IMO).I've seen some reviews mentioning that they ran out of thread and had to purchase extra, but I have never come across that problem. Every single colour I've used so far has left me with at least 1, 3 ply thread (so half of a whole 6ply thread). However, I do see how this can happen to a beginner due to inefficiently using thread. I do think that since this is marketed to novices, it would be prudent of them to include a couple of extra threads per colour to allow for this. However, I will provide some tips below to help with that.Tips and tricks:- Start with the largest, most uniform sections. For the cacti design, that would be the plant pots. This allows you to get in the groove, and have a feel for efficiently stitching.- When doing large areas in one colour, do it column by column or row by row depending on which side is longer. To do this, I needle up in top left, needle down in bottom right and repeat for the whole row/column. When you reach the end you should have a row of half stitches. Then you do the inverse to complete the row of stitches: needle up in bottom left, needle down in top right (or equivalent).-Try to keep all your stitches oriented the same way. The direction of the thread on the bottom for me always goes top left>bottom right, and the the thread on the top is bottom left> too right. (Check pics for more clarity).-Try to avoid diagonal crossovers on the backside, this can eat up thread quickly. (Hypotenuse is always longer than the sides of a triangle). In my pictures, you can see the back of the piece, and it is quite neat with mostly horizontal lines.- Try to avoid "jumping" long distances without cutting thread, you'll only waste it. If the "jump" eats more thread than tucking and cutting the thread, and making a new knot, don't jump. Tuck the thread in securely, make your cut, make your new knot, and start exactly where you need to be.If you read till here: Thanks! I hope this review helped! I absolutely loved working on this project and will likely buy other projects from them!

Cool pic so far but have run out of 2 colours already ...
So far its turning out to be a cool picture .. However ive only done a handful of colours and have actually run out of 2 colours already. It's a super easy cross stitch to do and im sure its going to look great but not thrilled with running out of 2 colours already when I've only done 5 or so out of the 27. Will update once i finish to tally how many colours ive run out of and had to go buy.Updated Nov 2021: finished finally! Looks great completed and did only run out of 2 colours. Had enough for the rest! Would buy again and have recommended to others.
