Kemp: Riders of Fury (Arrows of Albion Book 4)

Fast paced historical novel
A fast paced adventure that unravels during the English-French wars. The famous English archers and their longbows are central in a good yarn that is loosely based on fact.

Well done
Lunn is a good author of historical fiction. Using terminology and language of the times has helped me a lot with word origins and language development through the centuries. I enjoyed this book as much as the preceding two books in this adventure.

Another great book in the Kemp saga
This book follows the career of Kemp first as a brigand in Brittany and finally another great battle in France where the margin of victory is provided by the British archers. Well researched, well written and a fun read

So much better than 3
In Albion book 3, Kemp was captured every other chapter by enemies that if they did not kill Kemp the archer s fingers were sure to be lost. It never happened. Lunn got back to what was fun following Kemp. But now, Kemp's future looks a bit brighter. I almost gave up on the series. Very glad I did not, thanks Lunn for a worthy ride.

Beware
Martin Kemp becomes a freebooter, a mercenary in Breton, & by virtue of being outnumbered, finds himself attached to Sir Ranulf Fitzwaryn, an English nobleman once accused of murdering his father. FitzWaryn boasts of his courage, adjures his men to be kind to women, but in truth, is a wolf in sheep's clothing, doing the opposite of what he claims. When he realizes Kemp is a strong soldier & strategist, Fitzwaryn decides to frame Kemp as a pillaging rapist & murderer, which Kemp learns of & with his men, tries to stop or overthrow Fitzwaryn. Unfortunately, war calls, Kemp & Fitzwaryn must answer the King's call, fight on the same side.Martin, along with Ieuan, his Welsh archer friend, & a handful of men who followed them, battle courageously, with Martin turning the tide of a decisive battle. The Bourc du Cazoulat, half brother to the vicious Uc de Savignan, whom Martin killed, stalks Martin to avenge his half brother's death, nearly succeeds, but gets caught up on the opposite of the war where he's captured & held as an honor hostage.Fitzwaryn ends up hanged for cowardice, all his braggadocio proven as false as his claims.Martin Kemp, Ieuan, & their men survive to fight another day.

100 Years war dramas
Just love Jonathan Lunnโs writing. His story telling us excellent as is his attention to historical facts. Loved this four book series with Demi-hero Martin Kemp as the believable character with a heat-of-gold. Hope thereโs a book five!!

Twisting Plot
At times the saga seemed to go off track but fortunately there was enough to maintain ones interest and wonder now how the story will evolve as a likely Captain of a Free Company!
