TYC 610730 Cooling Fan Assembly Compatible with 2002-2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

Installed on a 2003 Ram 1500 with 4.7 L engine. Fits and works great, but must cut out piece on side to allow installation without disconnecting and recharging AC system, as stated in several other reviews. But do not go through removing the battery and fuse box as shown in several YouTube videos. MUCH quicker and easier to remove the crossbar with the hood latch on it. I am only moderately handy doing this type of work, but got it installed in less than an hour. The hardest part was lining up the holes to attach the condenser to the shroud. I used a small Phillips screwdriver as a spud to line them up, and it went pretty well. Just installed today, so cannot comment on durability. Will update later. But the AC works great now. This fan was a perfect fit for my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 fan that was shot. It went in easy and works like OEM. I did evacuate the a/c prior to removal and think that it saved time overall. Once installed, it runs quietly and works 100% as the original that came with the truck. Price was right as well.

TYC 610730 Dodge Ram Pickup Replacement Condenser Cooling Fan AssemblyApplication: 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. As typically described, this is a common failure item normally noticed during the spring/summer months while running the air conditioner and you notice the lack of cooling while stopped in traffic or sitting in a parking lot. Another indicator is constant idle hunt while sitting at idle since the AC compressor is rapidly cycling.Replacement of this item is pretty straightforward. I would rate difficulty at easy to medium. If you are not mechanically inclined, then use your phone to take plenty of pictures before starting and during disassembly. This will show routing of cables, bolt types, location, etc. for reference during reassembly (however you should not need much here).Note: The service manual, dealerships and mechanics will quote you a couple of hours, discharge/recharge of AC system, removal of battery and power distribution panel, etc. Absolutely NONE of those activities are required to perform this procedure. The required safety message is next "disconnect the positive battery cable before proceeding". So there...totally your choice and assumed risk if you choose not to.There are several youtube videos explaining the process as a good reference (just disregard removing battery, fuse box, etc..)After opening the hood you'll immediately notice the front radiator core support that runs from driver to passenger side. It is secured by 4 bolts. The AC condenser fan assembly and engine radiator are attached to the radiator core support by 10mm bolts.1. Remove the two 10mm bolts at the top of the AC condenser fan assembly.2. Remove the one 10mm bolt at the top of the engine radiator.3. Remove the four bolts (2 at each end) securing the radiator core support.4. Lift the core support out of the way allowing it to lean against the front of the truck (it is attached by the hood release cable). This provides easy access to the entire fan assembly.5. The aluminum AC tube runs along the lower section of the core support just clipped in place. Unclip the tube allowing some flexibility with movement. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BEND, KINK OR OTHERWISE DAMAGE THIS LINE.6. The AC Line runs through the ac condenser fan assembly. Simply cut the plastic assembly in a nice straight line. This will later allow the condenser (radiator) to separate from the plastic shroud without the need to discharge/recharge the AC system.7. The plastic shroud assembly is secured to the condenser by two 10mm bolts on each side. Remove these. Now the condenser and shroud may separate by gently pulling the two apart. Being careful not to damage the condenser fins, pull the condenser out of the shroud.8. Remove the wire harness from the shroud and unclip the harness from the fan motor.9. Lift the shroud/motor assembly out of the truck. Keep the two rubber grommets at the top and two at the bottom and install on the replacement assembly.10. On the replacement shroud, be sure to pre-cut the plastic for AC line clearance.11. Reinstallation is simply reversal of the removal process.Total time: Start to finish including tool clean up was 40 minutes.Review of the part: Included a 6 bladed fan. Well made and solid design with some added features that did not interfere with installation. Some had commented on noise, however mine was whisper quiet. In fact, the OEM fan was loud compared to the TYC fan. I do not know the CFM rating, but it is equivalent to or greater than the original (by feel not actual tool measurement). Bottom line: I have cold AC again at idle. With summer approaching us here in Alabama, cold AC is a must!I hope this helps.

I’ll begin by saying this fan assembly is perfect for my 07 Ram. Easy to install, works great. Now, I Needed this part in a timely manner ( ASAP) and the local auto store couldn’t get one in for 3-4 days, so I came here. It was scheduled to arrive Wednesday, it arrived the following Thursday. I waited over a week, where multiple times I was told it would “ship within 24 hours”. Well 6 24-hour periods later, it arrived. I was offered a $5 coupon for the issue. Customer service was told to shove it.

Great product. Comes with extra pigtail for different connectors.Not that easy to install by yourself unless you have an AC reclaimer. Its not the fans issue, its Dodge. You have to remove the 2 support bolts woth the rubber bushings and disconnect the condenser from the lines and remove the whole thing. Then take out 4 bolts (2 on each side) to remove the condenser from the fan shroud, then reverse the steps with the new one. Remember to reuse the rubber mounts and bushings off of the original shroud. It is not that difficult, but the removal of the refrigerant and adding it back requires specail equipment. That is the only issue, but like i said its dodge not this product.

I think people who dont know this, should know this. Knowing this, you will have your fan assembly installed in 15 min. No joke. Install time, from start to finish, 45 min. But actually switching this whole unit out, 15 min maybe less. the first thing you're going to want to do if you have a TPMI like I do, because this went on a 2006 Dodge Ram. Remove your TPMI from the holder and use some rope or bungee cords to pull it away from the fan assembly. Then you're going to remove the top two bolts that hold the fan assembly on along with the two radiator bolts. Once you've romoved all four of those bolts, the air conditioning line that runs from the front of the condenser along the front of the radiator, up and towards the passenger side, you're going to pull that hose out of the brackets you see holding it. I believe there's 4. All you're going to do is allow more movement in that hose. Now you're going to take out the four bolts that hold the Shroud to the condenser. Once you have all four bolts removed which are 10 mm. Next you're going to disconnect the fan motor. This is where it gets easy, you have quite a bit of flex in your AC hoses especially with the front one out of its brackets. You're going to pull straight up on the condenser and it'll come up high enough for that shroud to pull right off. You might have to finagle it a little bit for the AC hose that connects to the back side top but everything else comes right off, if you pull up the condenser far enough to clear the battery tray and fuse box or TPMI. Once you get the assembly off go ahead and put the new one right back on with the condenser pulled up as high as it is.. condenser pulls up pretty high, a lot higher than people realize. And none of your lines come even close to buckling. You are going to have to do some cutting on the new one and if you're unsure of where to cut, you can go onto YouTube and watch videos. But the area where your cutting is for the upper AC hose that runs to the compressor. Once you get your new one on just gently push on your condenser, edges only not on the fins to line up the holes for the four bolts. If you have a TPMI the surrounding plastic that kind of holds the unit, you can slightly bend that so it'll clear the fan guards when dropping it back down. The whole trick to this is giving yourself enough slack in the lower AC line to lift up the condenser far enough to pull the assembly right off. Like I said the entire job took me 45 minutes, actually switching out my unit took me 15 minutes because I didn't realize you could pull the condenser up that far. If I would have known that from the get-go it would have taken me 10 minutes. I also removed my battery and I was going to remove the battery tray to give me a little more room. So all in all by skipping those steps I probably could have had this job done in 30 minutes. Not hard at all.

It was refreshing to open a package and find such a well packed, nicely built product. I was nervous when ordering since it's less than 1/3 of the cost for Mopar, but it's simply built better. The shroud is thicker.. the fan is heavier duty.. nothing is flimsy. There is nothing cheap about this assembly.On a side note.. be sure you watch a couple of videos showing how this assembly gets replaced. I can guarantee that if you haven't already removed one of these (from this model truck), you will underestimate the complexity.I've been a mechanic my whole life. No one has ever done repairs or maintenance on any of my vehicles. It doesn't matter how reputable the shop is or how extensive the work is. I'll sell for scrap and buy something else before I ever let that happen.With that being said, I can honestly say Dodge designed this part to prevent owners from doing their own repair. It's as if they went out of their way to discourage DIY'ers by over complicating the removal of this assembly.. perhaps in an effort to prevent people from discharging their units into the air. It's bad for the atmosphere, and also illegal. A lot of people would do it regardless.There's two ways to go about it, though. You can either remove half of your engine bay, depressurize the system, swap the assemblies and put it all back together.. or you can do like I did and cut out a certain section of the old shroud, as well as the new one, using a tool able to precisely cut through a very hard and thick plastic.. in order to swap the assemblies without removing any lines from the condensor. Of course, that's after you either manage to lift and pull the condensor through the front opening (without damaging it) to reach one of the bolts.. or dismounting the entire fuse box assembly, after removing the battery, and pushing the fuse box back far enough to access the bolt to remove the shroud and pull it out of the engine bay while still cutting into both shrouds.I'm not trying to discourage anyone.. I'm just trying to get the point across that this is not an amateur job. Things could get messed up very easily. Things that would end up costing a small fortune in repairs.Watch a couple of videos first, then decide if you are capable. Even if you come to realize that you're not, I would still recommend buying this product and taking it wherever the repairs are being done.

Solved the problem. It wasn't too difficult. Had to cut a bit, but I had to do the same to the original when I removed it. That was only so I wouldn't have to take out the radiator fan shroud. It was EXACTLY like the original (except it worked, lol). Shipping was pretty quick. It has been less than a week, but it has worked fine since installation.

Order this new fan to replace the original worn out non working fan, took about 45 minutes from start to finish. Very easy to replace if you watch the A1 Auto video on YouTube there are a few modifications to be made in order to do this in your own. You need to disconnect and remove the battery, remove the fuse box and hang it off to the side, remove 4 bolts holding the fan, cut the plastic around the AC line running through the fan in order to separate the fan housing from the condenser, unclip the AC lines running a long the bottom of the frame, once you get the fan out you can access the four bolts holding the condenser inside the fan shroud just be careful not to damage the condenser fins in the process. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the unit!So far everything is working as it should and now have ice cold A/C highly recommend this if your fan is not working.

Motor worked, AC fixed. came as described.the housing is SLIGHTLY different than OEM so you may need to snip a portion of it out (the side adjacent to the radiator). Comes with power adapter too in case your power connection is different.

I was quoted $250 for the OEM part, the price can't be beat! Fit just as good as the old one I pulled out. My AC works great again.

I was a little worried about quality because not only was it cheap but it was really light compared to the original unit. It took about two hours to remove the original and install the new one and just like that! I had ice cold A/C during the hottest time of the year.
