Can this be used to mix cosmetic products that are thicker than water?

Probably do. It has a drill type chuck and good power, but I have only mixed water based solution.

Don’t buy this one

The display lights stopped working at less than 6 months and the device stopped working all together at one year. To expensive to stop working like this. Very frustrating.

UPDATE: was able to contact support, they express shipped replacement

UPDATE: I was able to contact LabFish through eBay, and they express shipped a replacement base & vertical support rod to me. Wasn't able to figure out how to contact them through Amazon, which isn't LabFish's fault. The stirrer performs excellently, and deserves a five star review, especially for the great support! Overall absolute 5 star product! The mixer motor itself is really great, with a smooth ramp-up feature and quick stop function. The drill chuck is of high quality and securely holds the mixer attachments. The included mixer bars are also good, along with the German clamp and other accessories. The power supply is impressively large, suggesting that the product can withstand heavy use.
