Wm. Widdop Arched Birch Wood Mantel Clock with Arabic Dial (W9699)

My mantle clock died and initially I was going to do without but I couldn't stop looking for the time! So I started a long search for a suitable replacement. Eventually settling on this one. It is wood, it is beautifully made, no burrs or knocks etc. Clear face, with a chrome surround, not blingy but a nice accent. Keeps time, only a faint ticking. I am very pleased.

It's a very basic mantel clock, that somehow looks more expensive than it is. Not quite as pictured, with "WM. Widdop Est 1883" appearing on the clockface. This nevertheless makes it look more authentic. Very soft ticking noise, but there isn't a second hand. Had I paid more I would have been disappointed, but it serves it's purpose and doesn't look out of place.

It’s perfect, not too big not too small, easily readable face and keeps perfect time but it doesn’t have that reassuring metronomic tick but perhaps most people don’t want it, ah well, apart from that it’s just right.

bought on impulse when a similar clock stopped. surprised at the quality with easy to read dial and nicely finished wooden case. came well packed.

Can hear the ticking so it’s not silent

Great looking clock which belies the low price paid. However, when first used, the hands stuck and so had to open the clock up to free them and it was difficult to fit the mnechanism back into the wooden frame. Works great now and keeping good time!
