Great experience; high resolution sharp images.
Outstanding lens. The Irix lens experience starts with amazing packaging. Once you get to the lens; the Blackstone experience keeps being positive - it feels hefty but not L series hefty and the focus dial is buttery smooth. It is manual focus; but auto aperture. I have several Zeiss lenses with the same manual focus auto aperture and enjoy using them. If you have a Canon Eos R there is a great focus assist for manual focus that gives you a pseudo Rangefinder focus experience. I first put the lens through its paces on a bright January morning; and I'm happy with the colors it returns, along with the wide rectilinear image. The York Minster photo attached is a good example; the building is falling down but you cant sort that in lens without a tilt shift (please irix?) The bits I like are sharpness across the frame; you can see the bricks and scaffold are all nicely in focus. On the full size you can read the inscription on the statue; so the lens really delivers on its promise of high resolution. For carrying around its a bit of a niche lens; though its for big things like Cathedrals. The picture is far superior to the Samyang 14mm I have been using for astrophotography and those times a super wide angle lens will help. I'm looking forward to trying the Irix out with astrophotography when I can get out of the city. For carrying around its much lighter than most of my l lenses; and especially lighter than the Otus and Milvus lenses.Compared to the Zeiss lenses I have this relatively affordable lens is a great performed. It doesn't quite stretch to their performance but its massively cheaper and a tweak of the colors in Lightroom gets you there.

It's an ultrawide manual focus lens!
I bought this before a trip to the states, knowing that there would be opportunity for dark skies and landscape shots that would otherwise involve stitching. It feels well made, out of the box signs were good. First the Amazon box, then the Irix outer box, then the metal Irix inner box, then a neat little case. The lens body is metal (this is the blackstone version, the other version has the same optics with a plastic body. I'm clumsy) and the focus ring is well damped with a decent range. It also shows hyperfocal focus on the ring so you get to do some research if you're not used to using it.Focusing takes some getting used to, for anything a decent distance away it isn't an issue, set it to infinity (or the Hyperfocal range for your apeture), point and shoot. For closer things you have to focus, as modern cameras aren't really set up for manual lenses it's a bit slower.Once focused it's a sharp lens though, the reviews were right, there really isn't much else at this price point that comes close. Distortion is surprisingly low, as is flare.I bought mine mainly for astro and landscape shots and have been very impressed with it overall.

A Brilliant Ultra Wide Angle Lens....
I had been waiting for this lens to be released ever since seeing it at The Photo Show at the NEC back in May 2016. The lens has exceeded my expectations, which were high to start with. The quality of the Swiss engineering & the Korean construction are superb. The optical quality is brilliant with glass that is up there with Zeiss & Voigtlander. If you like wide angle landscapes, architectural shots etc. without the usual fisheye distortion you get with ultra wide lenses then this is for you. It gives a very sharp image, good colour rendition and at f2.4 is faster than most ultra wides. This is a lens for the full frame camera photographer, there is not much point using it in a crop sensor camera. The lens resolution is high enough for 50 megapixel plus cameras and I am using this lens most of the time on my Canon 5DS.

Cracking Lens for the Money
Rock solid construction, feels great in the hand. Image is nicely sharp and suffers from little distortion. Like the infinity detent on the focus ring and the lock to keep the focus in place. Lots of lens for the money, would definitely recommend.

Brilliant if you want to scan the sky at niht
What I found was I could see more with the lens than my eyes could see. What I mean not the focal distant but your ability to see left and right. It quite phenomenal what you can see.
