When it comes to cycling, I tend to think that one of the unsung heroes is the humble battery. Specifically, the Sram Etap Battery for derailleurs has really made a significant change in my biking life. Let me explain. 100% does what it's supposed to do.

I have an SRAM Eagle wireless system on my handcycle and have suffered the frustration on more than one occasion, of the battery dying en route. I took to carrying the battery charger and a small power pack with me, but this wasn't ideal as it meant I'd have to ride without gears for perhaps half an hour whilst the shifter battery charged. So I chose this as a backup, and now when the battery dies I simply swap it, remembering to put the flat one on charge when I get home. This is a much more convenient solution which also means that I can support other riders in my group if they have the same problem. I opted for the genuine SRAM version, as whilst more expensive than unbranded ones it looked more likely to have a decent capacity and there was no risk of invalidating the warranty on the shifter than using something non SRAM. At around £40 this isn't exactly cheap, but it's already saved me on two rides over the last month or two.

Purchased as a spare battery to keep stored in the frame after running out of juice on a ride. It's an original battery at a good price.

SRAM quality. Not cheap but no sense in buying “cheaper” alternatives when using with expensive equipment in the first place.
