RYOBI RXAHT01 Expand-It Articulating Hedge Trimmer Attachment with SmartTool Technology

A replacement for an expandit hedge trimmer attachment which suddenly failed after several years of regular use. People have complained that the gears in these can suddenly fail under load - I felt lucky that I got reasonable service out of mine. Ryobi have changed the connection (due to now offering an electric power head?) and inexplicably now have the spring locking mechanism on the opposite side to the hole in the power head shaft. However this does not seem to matter. After a few cuts I can verify that this works as well as the last one did. So I'm glad I went for a replacement, rather than pay much more for a stand-alone petrol or electric trimmer, as the rest of the Ryobi gear was still working well. I bought mine as a much reduced Amazon returned item, at half the usual price. The trimmer was completely unused. I may have been more inclined to look at alternatives had the full price attachment been the only option.

Do not bother buying this attachment. The other in the range have been good but this is useless. It cannot Cole cutting anything bigger than conifer so useless against laurel for example. Plus it will fail and brake under any heavy use so is pretty much useless for any type of hedge that needs cutting. Buy a different hedge cutter and don’t waste your money

bought last year for but only needed to clip hedge last week. after 20 minutes the middle nut and screw fell out and was lost completely in the hedge clippings. now need to find similar before i can use it. Now will not work at all even with new screw in, just runs on idle! Useless piece of expensive equipment. Will go back to the £35 electric hedge clipper still running after 8 years.

On my second one and has failed but can no longer return. Used for light hedge cutting but the first ones gearbox failed and the second one just spins freely without blades moving so guessing the same problem. I would STRONGLY suggest looking elsewhere for a cutter or if all else fails hire one as there is a lot that can go wrong with this attachment and will end up costing you more in the long run.

Great bit of kit, as expected from this brand

I have owned this cutter bar for a year now. It is still going strong, but only because I have had to make my own modifications to it !! When first received, the cutters would not move unless i revved the engine. I loosened the bolts on the bar, which sorted out the problem, but then because the bolts were very short, they came loose and fell off. I bought some longer bolts together with double nuts so I could lock them together. The cutters now worked fine. The cutter bar only seems to fit to the power unit upside down ! I drilled a new hole in the opposite side of the attachment, so the sprung fixing peg could be inserted 180° round. The bar requires regular lubrication to keep running smooth. Overall a lot more hassle than expected :(

Ich schreibe normalerweise keine Rezessionen, aber hier ist es ein ausgesprochener Warnhinweis, dieses Teil nicht zu kaufen. Es kann gerade mal für dünne Äste verwendet werden, alle stärkeren Äste werden von dem Teil nur angeknabbert, da die Äste einfach aus der Verzahnung herausrutschen. War ein Griff ins Klo und ist ausgesprochen ärgerlich. Ich werde das Teil auf den Müll werfen, um meine Nerven zu schonen.

Fonctionne bien Il a un peu de mal sur les grosses branches mais je pense que c’est plus un ajout d’appoint pour mon coupe bordure Malgré tout il a quand même coupé des grosses branches

Les engrenages prennent vite du jeux et n'entrainent plus les lames.
