A light-weight chip pan ideal for one or two persons
The Prima chip pan met my expectations. Once the knob handle has been screwed to the lid and the items have been rinsed in warm soapy water, you are ready to go. I was surprised how light the chip pan was but, actually, it allows the oil in the pan to heat that little bit quicker. There is a warning on the box not to allow gas flames to spread out further than the base of the pan and I think this is a very important point. However, there was no indication how much oil had to be tipped into the pan to a safe level and so I guessed at a third full would be safe. Using sliced potatoes, which I dried on a towel after slicing, I tested one piece first and as soon as I was confident the oil was hot, I lifted the wire basket from the oil and added the rest of the sliced potatoes. After they appeared cooked, but not brown, I lifted the basket and increased the heat a little more and then plunged the basket into the oil. The sliced potatoes were browned in a matter of minutes and so I quickly made a cheese sauce, from granules, to pour over the potatoes now served on a plate. Delicious! I can't wait to buy some scampi to cook with some home cut chipped potatoes. One feature I liked about the wire basket is that the mesh is woven to create smaller holes than in other chip baskets I have used in the past. The advantage to this is that there is no risk of chipped potatoes sliding through the mesh and into the hot fat. Once the pan and oil has cooled, the oil can be transferred to a jug, covered in cling film and placed in the fridge for a later date. The pan, lid and basket is easily washed in warm soapy water. Certainly cannot fault this product at this time.

Poorly made product
The pan base and handle are ok. The lid is not a good fit and feels flimsy. The wire basket does not fit in the pan properly at all and causes the lid to not fit correctly. Overall not a good product and if I had noted the above before it was used, it would have been returned.

Disappointing
Bought this 2 years ago and reordered as it was well worn...the replacement is a much cheaper model. Thinner metal, more flimsy, lid fit poor and pan dances around when put on hot plate...AVOID!
