I would suggest you set a few days aside, sit down with him, and work through this with a recorder running to capture the answers. You'll garner so much more info than if you just let him write it. You'll find a lot of these questions end up provoking memories or stories that would otherwise have been lost. And by asking them in person, you can follow up with further questions that enhance the experience. For example I remember on the back of an answer asking 'How did mum feel about that?' and then followed a 20 minute story about the consequences and fall out which t came from led to 'such-and-such' and that meant that so on and so on... and before I knew it, it'd taken over an hour to answer 1 question - but it was an amazing and fascinating hour full of nostalgia and memories.... Definitely well worth a purchase as it can really help capture the essence of your dear old dad!

This is a fantastic idea for a present! Lovely layout and questions in side. This is more than just a book, it's the in sight into another persons world/eyes... on that note you can't put a price on something like this. Very nice present to give to others! And in return it's to be upon completion returned to the person (if they want to) to return to the giver. A lovely present! Glad i bought! Very impressed and would highly recommend!

Such an endearing gift for a father to record stories for a son. Brilliant also as a gift for a friend or family member who perhaps is losing a Dad and wants to write in himself/herself memories and stories from an ageing or ailing parent. It is a lovely idea and a superb way to record a family history.

I purchased this for my Dad's 70th, as a way of encouraging him to write his memoirs. He absolutely loved it. Lots of really interesting questions in there. I asked him to answer the questions about me, e.g. 'How did you feel when I was born', including my brother as well. Simple. Fab quality book, too; I like the ribbon. Top stuff!

I did hope this book would be bigger, which is why i only give it 4 stars. It is a great idea, and there are other books for Mums, Grans etc. This is a unique gift that will last as a memory of the Dad forever. There is a lot of pages to fill in, so needs to be done over a few months, but don't forget to encourage it to be filled in, or it all ends up being a waste of time. New Dads to be may be eager to fill it in, and tell their story to their loved ones. The book acts as like a notebook, with questions that the Dad can fill in or stick pictures. Questions such as What jobs have you had? or tell me things that make you laugh, what pets did you have when you were young, what attributes did i have as a child? etc etc. The last page is for the gift giver to fill in. When it is it all filled in, it will be a unique priceless keepsake. There is an opportunity for the Dad to show his personality, and write silly things funny things, long script or a one liner. Nice quality hard back book, with a book mark ribbon.

My daughter surprised me with this book, which asked a number of pertinent questions for posterity. It certainly made me think about the past and my interaction with my daughter and it took some time to provide the info requested. My only problem was the size of the page which I felt made it a bit awkward to write on but otherwise it was an interesting idea on someones' part and I think has been well recieved by my daughter.

My Dad purchased something similar for his dad which we found it after he passed away, half filled out. Some lovely memories and things we didn't know about my granddad. Now I have given this to my dad for fathers day, I hope he will take the time to fill it in so we can look back through it together. Lovely gift idea, really happy with it.

Its a good gift to encourage your dad to write down his memoirs for posterity but some of the categories a bit too rigid and may not be appropriate for everyone's Fathers especially a more older generation but even it it gets your dad to realize that you value his thoughts and memories of the past then its a good buy!

My dad was very touched when I gave him this journal as a gift for Father's Day. I can't wait to get it back from him some day!
