Music Theory For Young Musicians - Grade 2: Study Notes with Exercises for Abrsm Theory Exams (Poco Studio Edition): 3rd Edition : Ying, Ying NG: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: excellent for anyone - this is so comprehensive and easy to understand for anyone doing music theory Review: Great for younger students - This whole series of Music Theory for Young Musicians is great for younger students. It has everything in one place, only one book required for each grade. The instructions are clear and concise, and they include lots of exercises, dealing with each concept from various angles, which makes the student learn and understand each concept very well. Also, thanks to the illustrations and use of colour, these books makes music theory learning seem a little bit less "scary": some of my younger students (8-9 year olds especially) have found some of the other available theory books difficult to use as they are a lot more "academic-looking" and therefore a little off-putting if this makes sense. These, however, they find quite fun and approachable.

Excellent
Ying’s theory books are well received amongst my piano students - adults and children alike. Well written, easy to follow. I especially like the specimen exam paper at the back and revision notes. Using this series of books as part of their theory studies has resulted in my students achieving 90% or more in their exams.

... and 2 books in this series and are an excellent way to start children off with music theory
I think the Grade 1 and 2 books in this series and are an excellent way to start children off with music theory. The books are beautifully presented, and explanations are extremely clear and helpful. They are probably not quite as challenging as the equivalent graded ABRSM workbooks, but still present all the necessary material for those grades, so might be better suited to a child who needs a gentler approach.

Good book
Bought the book as next step after Music theory grade 1 for my son, who plays piano and guitar. It is good for everyday practice.

Popular music theory book
This is the book that was recommended for my 11 year old's music theory class. It arrived in perfect condition and was just what we needed. Thanks!
