A great value
Given the inflation situation, this deal is worth it simply because the quality is of high standards and the quantity is just right. If these same box of dates was sold at stores, I would have to pay at least double if not more. Dates are expensive! There is nothing wrong with these dates... They are fresh, soft, big, they are packaged in a cute box, but best of all, they are organic, simply natural. The box is very cute but kind of heavy due to the weight of the dates; mine weights 4.4 pounds. I tend to use my dates often for smoothies instead of processed white sugar, eat them alone, but just one because these ones are huge and one would be enough to satisfy you and give you energy. I also accompany lentil soup with a date since the salty flavor of the soup and the sweetness of the dates complement each other; they taste delicious. These are perfect before workouts and post workouts and will also fill you up. I would definitely purchase these dates from California again and I also think they are wonderful as a gift. Ratings Freshness: 5 Indeed, they are fresh; the way they should be Flavor: 5 Rich, delicious, and very sweet flavor Airtight storage: 5 the packaging keeps the dates fresh so far I keep my dates in its original packaging and monitor them from time time. If I feel I got to place them in the fridge so they won't go bad fast, I place them in the the fridge and they will last me a very long time. I sometimes also freeze them. I hope this review helps you in deciding about the purchase of this product.

The Best Dates Ever!!!
These are fantastic! Delicious! Easy to pit. I split them, put a macadamia nut inside, drizzle some honey, and pinch of seasalt as a delicious and nutritious dessert! High in fiber and natural sugar so these are great pre and post workout for some quick energy and restoration. Lastly, they travel easy. I travel for business and I just grab the bag and bring with me. I eat 5-10 each day! So good, good for you, and convenient.

Deliciousness 😁
So good! I got a subscription to repeat my pleasure. I am a pescatarian & dried fruit is a big part of my daily eats. These are better than candy, equal to chocolate! I did not experience medjool dates until I saw them on Amazon a couple years ago. (I could never afford the ones in the grocery store so I didn’t look into them- only ate the regular dates). But on Amazon you can get them for cheaper than at the grocery store and these are definitely of a gourmet quality. There aren’t any bad dates left at the end of the bag, they’re all delicious and soft. Every single date, every time so far- 3 or 4. No hard outer skin. Very meaty with a small seed. They are better WITH the pit as they remain soft & moist. I would say 90% are a large gourmet size with a few small ones scattered around, but they are just as delicious. In this case size doesn’t matter.

Good but not mind blowing
I gave these 4 stars because they were fresh, packaged well and there was a great amount in each bag. There wasn't anything super unique about these dates though. I mean, they tasted great but I probably won't buy again.

The plastic package is NOT an improvement
I bought Joolies brand Ugglies dates in the 4.4 pound cardboard boxes for years. I used one box every 2 or 3 months. The dates were fresh, delicious, good-sized, and easy to cut a few into 1/4" pieces for a radicchio salad I eat frequently. The whole dates stayed fresh in the refrigerator for all that time, though I did split them up into several plastic margarine tubs I re-use. AFTER Joolies changed the packaging to the plastic bags with zip-lock tops I was offered two 2-lb bags instead and I bought and paid for them, thinking they would be fine. The dates were extremely hard. They were actually dangerous to cut into smaller pieces, that is how hard they were. My sharpest knife could not get a starting cut going without slipping off the hard date surface! I wrote to Joolies to let them know and I got a credit from Amazon. The flavor of the bagged dates was OK, but the dates were not nearly as moist or as tasty as they were before and several had that black powder fungus dates can get. After throwing away the bad dates that Amazon credited me for I bought several bags of Nuts.com dates on their web-site and they were even better and larger than Joolies Ugglies dates. The Nuts.com prices are about $2.00/lb higher than Ugglies dates. Months later, totally out of the blue, I was shipped one of my usual 4.4-lb cardboard boxes of Ugglies dates by Amazon and was billed the normal price for it. It must have been back-ordered. Those dates are the normal fresh, soft and tasty product, and I am eating them now after the 2 months it took me to finish off the Nuts.com dates. Even opening the Ugglies box after a couple of months in the fridge, they were still moist and fresh. Clearly either the bagged product is inferior or the bags themselves are ruining the dates. The boxed Ugglies dates last a long time in the fridge and still taste great. But... now that 4.4-lb cardboard packaging is unavailable again.

The sweetest they can be.
Like they say, no bad dates but i would suggest when you cut them in half to remove it's seed, see if you need to wash off a bit of a mold that has happened in it's inside, usually at the top where it's little cap has come off then allowing some mold developement that seems to have entered it's top, oh well. They still are the sweetest and most sugared dates i have every had. So sugared are they that they tend to stick to one another and deform one another so there presentation of uniformity is compromised, oh well. Got another brand that cost more, were also organic, looked perfect, retained all there little cap tops to stop mold but were harder an less sweet. In photo, dates to the left are this product.
