Ready-to-Drink | Meal Replacement Shake| 20g High Protein Drink

The taste takes a little getting used to, but a great meal replacement.

I was previously purchasing these from Huel, less expensive to get from Amazon and subscription. It is where I could not taste the sucralose as much. Not grainy like typical protein shakes. For being vegan, the consistency when cold is truly like a chocolate shake. I actually enjoy drinking these on a daily basis. I do feel satiated after drinking one.

THE SHAKE IS GOOD. That's not what this review is about. The shake has helped me lose weight and has completely replaced my breakfast. I even like the taste (as long as it's cold) and look forward to it. This review is actually about the price. Suddenly Amazon decided to jack up the price like 6$. Which is now more than the vendor. Do yourself a favor, skip buying from here and either buy from the vendor directly, or buy huel black from Costco for $39 a case. Waste of money to keep getting it from here.

Update #2: I like the Vanilla better than the chocolate (that surprises me) and I am not getting the light shakes I was getting with the chocolate. Cocoa powder can sometimes mess with me, so I am thinking was the flavor not the shake. I think I like them. I drink maybe 1 a week because they are so pricey. It makes me wonder why I have tried ensure.... they look like the same thing. I might have to give ensure a try. I really wish these were made with Stevia. I can handle Stevia, but my stomach can handle only so much sucralose. It is sad you charge so much and yet you are basically Ensure... And why do I have to consume in 12 hours? ------------------------- Update: ok the chocolate flavor and thickness is getting easier. I am still adding water to it to water it down, but it is drinkable to me. Blood sugar did ok the second time, but I had only half of it instead of the entire bottle. Jury is still out. I really wish this was made with Stevia and not sucralose :(. My stomach doesnt like fake sugars except it handles Stevia the best. So this might be a deciding factor as well. ------- I was eager to get this so I am eager to review. The taste and thickness is not for the faint at heart. I found it much more tolerable drinking 1/5 of it, adding water to it, shaking it good, drink some more, add a bit more water, and then it wasn't so thick and it became more tolerable. It takes longer in the fridge to get cold than other protein shakes, so adding the cold water makes it colder if I didn't put it in the fridge early enough in the morning. I dont think it is too much liquid. I am not surprised it is thick. 400 calories is a lot to cram in a 16.9 ounce bottle! Not to mention all the nutrients. So for those who think this should be less liquid, remember, this is 400 calories. I am impressed they got it down to 16.9 ounces. I got the chocolate. It is not like other chocolate protein shakes but I didn't mind it. I have to try again, but the first time I had it I think it messed with my blood sugar! I am SHOCKED. I was shaky the entire day. The shake was the only change to my routine. I'm nervous to try it again, but I will give it one more try and then I will update this review. I am going to be SOOO bummed if this messes with my blood sugar. No other protein shake messes with my blood sugar. I realize it is a meal shake, but I didn't think this would mess with my blood sugar.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: it came up during a search so I bought a 12 pack. they immediately satisfy you appetite and you can take a few sips between meals if you need to as a bridge. I use 8 ounces every morning and half a protein bar for breakfast takes me from 730am to noon easily. around 2pm I take a 1 ounce sip as a bridge to dinner. So you can use them as a very healthy total meal replacement or you can use it to help you lose weight and feel full. FANTASTIC PRODUCT! I'm looking for a replacement for Soylent RTD drinks as that company seems to be rapidly going out of business and unable to deliver products in a timely fashion anymore. Huel is often recommended as an alternative and the nutritional facts are very similar so I wanted to give the chocolate flavor a try. I can say right now that Huel's chocolate flavor is vastly inferior to Soylent chocolate which makes me sad as they would be such a good substitute if the taste wasn't terrible. The flavor of Huel chocolate is pretty bad, no two ways about it. It has this granola, chalky sort of texture that also is more of a tangy fudge taste than a true chocolate. I think this would go best if it was mixed with some type of milk to offset that flavor, though if you're doing that why bother getting a ready to drink version? Just get the powder. A lot of meal replacement drinks have the fundamental problem that they taste a lot like whey protein and Huel seems to be no different. It's a shame because its about the same price and form factor as Soylent so it would've been a good replacement, but the chocolate flavor is just bad. Huel is also an oddly very thick drink, much more like a protein shake, to the point where I'd want to dilute it with water or at least have some water handy while drinking whereas Soylent is about as thick as the average chocolate milk. Its odd because they're basically the same volume, same amount of calories, etc, but Huel is way thicker for some reason. I feel like if I drank this without water it would probably give me stomach pains. I hope that the other flavors of Huel are better. Soylent had a problem where there's basically two base flavors, Chocolate and Vanilla, and every other flavor they offered was barely different. Only the chocolate based Soylent flavors were really any good. Maybe Huel is the opposite.
