Which will be the main and determinated difference between this one and the center 8040hd at $260 (550.00 bucks difference). usd 800 worth it ?

The CS-9080 has a self-powered subwoofer. Using a subwoofer RCA cable, plug one end to the center preamp out and the other end to the speaker subwoofer plug then plug the speaker into the power. The would be an addition to any other subwoofers that you might have. THe 804hd has a woofer but not a subwoofer and is not self-powered. If you buy the SC-9080 you might think about buying SVS subwoofer cables - I found they make a big diffrence.

why does the user manual and the product description refer to the model as CS-8080?

I have the cs -8080 it’s just previous model but no different in how you set it up the newer model.

9080 is just the newer model. If you like reviews on the 8080, which I have and like you’ll probably be happy with the 9080 which has more features.
