Second Edition Includes: * All of the original content * Three new performance pieces * """"Giuliani's Left-Hand Studies, Op. 1"""" * New lessons and exercises * Improved music engravings * A brand new, high-definition DVD containing lessons and performances of the pieces is also available. Upon its first publication in 1995, Pumping Nylon became an instant classic and a must-have technique handbook for all classical guitarists, and many players of other styles as well. Scott Tennant's encouraging style, sense of humor, and unique approach to technical training have garnered Pumping Nylon devotees throughout the world. At the heart of it all is the famous """"Daily Warm-Up Routine,"""" which includes 11 clever, helpful exercises to get both hands in shape and ready to play while improving your technical skills. The invaluable lessons in technique are supplemented by Giuliani's 120 Right-Hand Studies , Tarrega arpeggio studies, and examples from music by Bach, Turina, and Rodrigo. In addition, original compositions by guitar luminaries Brian Head and Andrew York reinforce the material while also providing concert-worthy repertoire. This new, improved second edition of Pumping Nylon incorporates even more great material with new pieces by Evan Hirschelman, """"Guiliani's Left Hand Etudes, Op. 1,"""" and new technical exercises in tremolo and balancing chord voicings. The music engravings have been improved for easier reading, and a brand new correlating, high definition DVD has been created and all of the media is available online! If Pumping Nylon is already part of your library, it's time for an upgrade! Pumping Nylon (Second Edition) is even better than the original. If you're just now finding Scott Tennant's masterpiece, this is a great opportunity to jump on board and start enjoying this classic book. Your practice routine and technical prowess will improve, and you'll have fun as you learn. Review: Excellent resource for serious classical guitar students. - This is a fantastic book that covers a multitude of techniques as well as providing some excellent studies. So far I have only just scratched the surface. Review: Pumping Nylon - Great book with tons of information and exercises to improve left and right hand technique. I had not played guitar for a while and was shocked at how much ability I had lost in both hands, having been an advanced player before. I also use Tarrgs's technical exercises to boost my technique but this book was brilliant. There are so many exercises that you can pick and choose which ones to work on such as improving slurs, accuracy and stretching the left hand and improving your reach. Lots of right hand exercises such as improving accuracy, I found I was hitting the wrong strings having lost the automatic memory for this. There is now a great improvement. All in all a very useful technical book to have.

Good exercises
Getting on OK with this but some of the exercises in the book are not described in enough detail for me to make sense of them. Now there is a DVD that can go with this and I've currently borrowed this from my teacher but I have to say unfortunately that the DVD navigation is amongst the worst I've ever seen. If I want to go to a video for a specific section of the book it's almost impossible. For starters, the 'top menu' features an unskippable section of Scott playing that lasts for minutes. Like every time you go back to the menu. I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea. Edit: gave it 3 stars when I was annoyed about the DVD navigation, a bit harsh, it's a good book

Buon inizio
Un must! Spiegazioni semplici e comprensibili, esercizi funzionali. Dopo un paio di mesi ho subito notato dei miglioramenti. Interessanti le sezioni dedicate al tremolo e flamenco.

Anyone who completes even half this book will have elevated their skill level
Recommended by my classical guitar teacher as being one of his favorites. It did not disappoint. Some really good basic information to remind you about hand position, warm ups, and a lot of well-organized exercises that allow you to focus on building good technique. A very succinct masterpiece. Anyone who completes even half this book will have really enhanced their skill level - without a lot of distracting clutter.
