I ordered a bunch of these brackets to attach the rails of my new deck to the vertical 4x4's. What I hadn't noticed when I bought them are the discrepancies of the pictures used to advertise them. I was simply going by the numbers. If you take a closer look at the advertised images, the oversize brackets are larger than the 2x4 lumber they are supposed to hold. When they arrived I was extremely happy with the quality of these braces. They are anything but flimsy. Ive included a few pictures I took when they arrived. When I get my deck finished, I will add to the pictures here. First thing to know is that they each weigh about 76g and perfectly fit a standard 2x4. The brace has a full 1/4 inch thick plate with a full 13/16 inch depth from face to back. Top to bottom, they are 4 inches and are 2 1/2 inches wide. When making measurements for cutting rails, take into account the extra 1/2 inch that each set adds to the ends of a rail. (1/4 inch on each end) Knowing this, I may router out a 1/4 inch of wood from each post to set these in for added strength and durability over the years. As for installing these brackets, they get screwed onto the ends of each rail using 2 screws, then 4 more screws attach each bracket to the vertical posts on each end. Just remember when measuring the rails you plan to use to account for the extra 1/2 inch of length they add per rail.

Brackets work great, screws are garbage

I initially bought them with the intention of using them as handrail brackets for panels on the backyard pergola. But because of how easy and nice they looked, I ordered more and used them in a side pergola in the entry doorframe and in the front yard as a fence line divider. Highly recommend these it you want to use it in different projects and making everything matches the flow. It was nice to slide the panels into the brackets. The screws were very good quality as well. The fit, value and multi purpose use definitely made me a satisfied user.

Just used these to rail a deck. For me, as long as it was a straight run it works fine. Seems strong enough. Must be just me but when it came to where my deck juts out 30°then I had a problem. It says that these a adjustable for this but I can't see how. You cut a 2x4 at an angle and you get a larger surface area on the end. So now it doesn't fit. I ended up cutting both sides of the board to fit doing more carpentry work then I thought was necessary and not a clean look. If someone can tell me where I went wrong I'd appreciate it. .

These are fantastic to use. it fits the 2x4 perfectly. Only constructive criticism would be to use a torx head screw instead of the square head.

These are easy to use and fit pretty good. If your wood is damp and maybe swollen you may have to tap it onto the board. Out of about 40 I used, I broke only one. I wished they made these for 2x2 lumber, I had to cut some of the connectors down to fit. You just have to remember to subtract about 1/4 inch off the lumber measurement for it to fit.

These are brilliant and cheap compared to DIY stores. Be aware though, they are 2inch not metric equivalent. They look very smart against natural wood posts.

Refreshed our deck and rebuilt the handrails fall 2023 . This kit made the job so easy. Quality parts and yes even the screws are of excellent quality. What makes this kit so nice to work with is it makes the job easier and small miscalculations in cuts are easily hidden. Final results is a professional look. Very happy with results and would definitely buy again. Just went through a cold Canadian winter and now in April, reviewing the construction, everything looks like the day it was built.
