Powerful Strimmer with a Long Cable- Wear Safety Gear
This is a really good and powerful grass trimmer that gets the job done quickly. It's easy to use, cuts through long grass well, and the cable is nice and long, so you have plenty of reach without constantly needing an extension lead. One thing I'd strongly recommend is buying safety glasses and sturdy footwear if you don't already have them, as they aren't included. I was hit by flying debris while using it and ended up with a minor injury. Wearing the right protective gear is definitely worth it.Overall, it's a great strimmer that's easy to use, offers good value for money, and has a generous cable length. Just make sure you use the proper safety equipment while operating it.

Sturdy machine
This trimmer is brilliant. I have a small/medium garden, slightly overgrown and it mowed through the edges like anything. Super powerful. No issues with the thread breaking at all. Very slightly on the weighty side but to me that's better than something lightweight and flimsy. Great buy

A great tool
This is a powerfull strimmer, I would say as good as a petrol strimmer. It cut through long grass with ease and as others have said, if not careful it will rip into the soil, the single lines are very easy to fit and also very durable. I would have given this five stars if it had a detachable power lead, the symbol on the casing and some of the published photos give the impressing that the power lead plugs in. For me all garden power tools should have detachable leads so that they can be stored properly as in use they get kinked and twisted and need to be unpluged to get the kinks out and hang them up, I also feel the little edging wheel is a gimic and just cause grass clippings to get stuck in it, I will probably take it off.All things considered this is a good tool and works well albeit with a couple of niggles, i think this thing is poweful enough for any garden unless of course you want to use it comercially. Black & Decker take off the silly little wheel and fit a plug and socket for the power cable and you will have a dam good tool.

No more 2 stroke servicing and almost as much cutting power.!
I got fed up with my petrol engine strimmer not working at the start of every year, and then not starting at random throughout the year.So I decided to give up trying to be macho and get a powerful 240v mains strimmer instead.(The garden is not massive and unsurprisingly I already have and extension cable anyway)There aren't too many electric brush cutters to choose from in the 900W region or above, or those that qualify as a brush cutter.I don't mind Black + Decker as you can often get spares. There used to be a shop in Leeds you could just walk into and buy whatever part you wanted, BRILLIANT. but I see most spares are still easily available online. This was a Amazon second, so slightly reduced in price but you would never know it had been opened or used in this case.Assembly was literally a minute or two with no tools or scratching my head.At the first use I was a bit disappointed that the 'strong' 3mm line only lasted less than a minute. But by using the longer 2mm reel line I did the whole job in a hour or so and used the whole reel up ! Job done. But now I have the weeds under control a reel will last months. It easily went through everything except the thickest bramble, which is understandable without a metal cutter.Turning the unit around to do edging was easy to do with one lever and has a firm click (SCHNICK!) as you turn the shaft to ensure a 180 degree fit.Swapping the line over is easy too, (turn it upside down with no fear of petrol spilling out) and if you have a moderate thumb grip to open the locking mechanism it all pulls out and you quickly replace it with another loaded reel..I really like this strimmer and it does all I want it to.If I remove all the additional time and expense needed for a petrol strimmer I got the job done in half the time !It has done the hardest cut - the first for a long while - with ease and I hope it will continue cutting with an easier life for a while to come yet.

basic and straight forward review
The item is really strong, iv been using cheap replacement lines and it has enough power to cut through pretty high grass and some of the branches were bit thick.using higher quality lines definetly makes a difference and its worth spending bit extra on the strimmer line because it helps get the work done much faster.not had any reason to contact customer service so cant comment on that.strength = happy with power, cut though tall grass and common garden weeds, gives good cutsweight = some people say weight bit issue or the fact its abit on a curve but i have been using this for 1.5hrs and i find it completly fine and happy with itlength of cable = i find the length of cable pretty good, i use extra extension cable so its fine, i understand why some people may not like it isnt detachable but you can still find some ways to keep it organizedset up = its very easy to set up, instructions explains it quite simply and straight forwardconclusion - hapy with product, happy with its power, not too difficult to use and gets the job. only thing i hoped that it would take 3mm cable instead of 2.4mm max.ALSO the price keeps changing so keep eye on offers!!it was first for ยฃ100 and then went to ยฃ77 for short periods a few times.

Great and powerful strimmer
Delighted with this strimmer so far. It arrived promptly from Big Red Toolbox and was easy to put together. It's a dream to use, feeling light and well balanced, with no vibration. I found it a little awkward at first until I adjusted the shaft length (very easy to do) to suit my height. So far I have only used the Spool line to cut thick spring grass. It cuts long damp grass effortlessly, and the Automatic Line Feed works well. Haven't run out of line yet, after a long afternoon of strimming. The insert line provided looks good for tackling tougher vegetation, but I haven't tried it yet.I have a lot of rough grassy banks in my garden, and I can now cut in one afternoon what previously took two days with a mower, hand shears , billhook and electric hedgetrimmer. (Yes, I was a Luddite, but as I'm now approaching 70 I reckon I should be saving my energy when possible) I've used a petrol strimmer before but found it cumbersome to use when working in resricted space, and of course it's a faff to start and maintain. This electric strimmer has plenty of power and is much easier to use and manouvre, altogether a great tool.PS Do NOT buy the Amazon recommended A6487 Insert line if you purchase this strimmer: it doesn't fit!

Blitzes overgrown gardens
I got through one heavily overgrown garden that is about 8m2 in half and hour & a second one I got 2/3rds done 'til I ran out of the line that came with it and a bit of edging but I have loads of line leftover from last year so I'll be back at it. The trick is really to stay away from the edges until last so you don't keep brushing up against posts and breaking the line. There was a guy next door in his garden with a strimmer at the same time as me but his was a petrol one; we made about the same amount of noise and progress finishing at more or less the same time; so I reckon it is as good as but obviously being corded doesn't have quite the same mobility not a problem to me as I also have a 30m extension cable on a spool and the cable on this is pretty good too about 10m it must be seems like it anywayI prefer to take the guard off & I find it really whizzes through grass and with a heavy line will take out quitechunky brambles too. seems quite rugged survived 2 years so far with nothing stupid going wrong with it but, something causes the caps to break every now and then, being quite powerful and maybe bashing the ground or hitting the brambles too hard mght cause a lot of vibration and the plastic tabs on the cap can break although the caps are replaceable better just to be careful with it, and with the standard light line stay away from the edges until last because it goes through it quickly otherwise. You can get a dual line cap for it as well as the heavy duty capGenerally great all round - blitzkreig on the jungle! Will tackle overgrown gardens well. Wear goggles it kicks up dirt and the odd stone. If you ask me electric is much easier to store than petrol

Works well
Made short work of some very long tufted grass and stalky weeds on a very large piece of ground. The cord is much longer than some reviews suggest and is about 5m. I bought the 900w one, it is very powerful and easily competes with a petrol one. The automatic line feed worked very well and I didn't have to stop once even when hitting large stones on very rough ground. Very easy to adjust the handle to the length I wanted and easy to turn the shaft so that it did lawn edges as well. Only four stars because it's quite heavy but apart from that I love it.

Excellent product
Excellent trimmer with a slight drawback. The trimmer line is too thin, I replaced it with thicker trimmer line and see the wonder.extension cord is pretty long which is very handy.i think it's around 20ft.value for money product. Robust build quality. Note that is not having adetachable head unit, so you can't replace it with other blades or head unit.light weight yet powerful. Note that this is having UK plug, so buy a small conversion adapter

Spares Is the Problem
Machine is good. 900W power (is more than the power of a normal mixer grinder which is around 850W) is enough for grass upto 1.5 to 2 ft height. Only problem is with the spares. Just one packet containing just about ten odd 35mm long nylon wire strips with the locking mechanism at it's middle is provided as spare with the machine. This one enables two wire strands at the head. And if you are cutting relatively stronger grass, this perishes in no time. There are no spares available online. Then you will have to solely depend of the other single spool which reduces the cutting efficiency as it enables only a single wire cutting head. But this can be replenishmened with any 2mm nylon wire.Happy with the product, problem is the lack of availability of spares.

worst customer service by black and decker, no parts to find online
great product but horrible customer service in india, you cannot even find a basic spool to purchase online, i dont understand why Black and Decker sell these online when they can even supply basic parts

Spare parts are hard to get and costly too
Spare parts are too difficult to manage. The customer care team is just to connect with some vendors to give support and then it's upto the vendors how they'll treat your request. The parts are very costly. A simple 1 ft nylon strip is 38 rs. Even if you order in bulk say 20 or 50, there is no discount. The Heavy duty strip also doesn't last much. The other one is useless. Stanley should improve their customer support and create some universal standard, so that, at least the Nylon strips, available in local shops can be fit.
