Welseal 12 Inch UPVC Letterbox/ Letter Plate Panel for 20mm-40mm Thick Doors (White)

The letterbox came shrunk wrapped with two screws inside. My door is 1" thick and I've had problems in the past getting one to fit without additional bother. My previous B&Q letterbox required me to take a hacksaw to trim back the inner sleeve creating quite a mess. This letterbox didn't require any trimming, it fitted my 1" thick door perfectly. The screws screw into a plastic column which I suspect may make this a 'get it right first time' set up. The only difficulty I had was getting the screws tight enough. I would have been happier with another turn on the right hand screw but it is sufficient as it stands now. What I especially like is the ease that my postman seems able to put letters through and the general silence of its operation. I did adjustments for a previous letterbox unfortunately I removed a small 1mm x 2mm gap too much on one side. The outer edge of this letterbox seems slightly larger so hids my old blunder rather nicely. Generally for a tenner I'm very happy. I live close to the sea which may explain why the paint flaked off my old letterbox. Time will tell how this one fares but I'm hopeful and would definitely buy another one as it's only a tenner and easy to fit.

The product was fairly easy to install on my own, with the use of tape to hold the outer part in place, without tape it was quite difficult to line up the screw holes and impossible to reach around the door frame to hold it, so I reached through the letterbox from the inside to steady it as I tightened the screws. This product is nice and sturdy once tightly screwed in place. I think it looks far better in the white finish, compared to my previous ‘gold’ version. It came very well-packaged in shrink-wrap and cardboard. Some previous reviewers have mentioned the screws being too long/unsuitable (wood screws) and I would agree with this observation, but I just used the two screws that were holding my old letterbox together and they worked perfectly. I also did not have any problems (like some other reviewers mention) with the colour. The item I received was perfectly white, not cream as some reviewers pictures show. I am also very happy that the visible surround is white too. The hidden inner parts are black. I would definitely recommend this item and I am very happy with my purchase and the price paid.

This is a really great quality product. Fitted to my white Composite door and looks great. It blends in so well you don't notice I've got it fitted. I had to trim the draft prevention brushes a little with scissors as there was a little too much resistance to push thin letters through when the brushes overlapped. Would have been 5 stars except there were no instructions with it so it took a little while to work out which way round it should go and no bolts supplied. Was OK for me as I have a garage full of bolts but think some should have been supplied.

We went to Homebase and B&Q and neither one had a letterbox that would fit our panel door! I saw this online and it had the correct dimensions, I was a bit dubious because of the price but now it's here (and in really good time too, much earlier than I was expecting) it's great and I am very happy with it. The screw holes are quite tight so had to screw the screws in then take them out so it was easier to screw together once on the door but this wasn't a problem. It's sort of a two man job too, had to get my 3 yr old to hold the flap up whilst I screwed it in as my other hand was holding the front bit on. Great product, great price and free p&p. Happy customer!

This comes in two parts; an outer (with a sealing gasket) and an inner. The outer has a spring-loaded flap - not too strong with the spring, so your postie won't lose his fingers on this. The inner has another spring-loaded flap and a brush beneath. The gasket was used as a template (on our uncut gate) and this worked well. This is supplied with two screws .... but as my OH says, it would be almost impossible to provide different ones to suit ALL fitting possibilities so be aware that you may need alternatives (as we did). The two parts fit together, one part on each side of the door or gate, and then screw together from the inside. This holds the letterbox in place. It can also prove to be a little fiddly, trying to hold the outer whilst attaching the inner. But then what letterbox wouldn't? All-in-all, a very good quality letterbox.

Not the best but it does the job. The screws supplied weren't long enough, good job I still had the old ones. Been fitted about a month, looks OK and I'm fairly happy with it..

Very simple to install. (Tip - make sure you can get the old one out properly first as the hole might be bigger than you think). It is sturdy, even the postman likes it! The colour/materials look as if they will not fade in strong UV. There is a black rubber seal on the inside, flap on outside and on inside and a brush draft proof seal.

Good for the price considering I was looking at basically the same product in Wickes that was twice the price. Took me 5 mins to fit and fitted the door fine. The screws that came with it were a little too long for the thickness of my door so I dug some screws out of a box in the garage that were just a tad smaller in length. Overall, it is what it is. Not sure how long the flaps will last but for just under a tenner I'm not going to complain. It's stopped the draft coming through that I had because one flap had fell off.
