Is this a sequential shifter also?

Yes. There is a plastic collar, which you can see in the photo, which clamped to the shifter stem and you just need to loosen the clamp and slide the collar down the shaft. On the bottom of the collar are 2 "pegs" which restrict the shifter to just forward and backword movement

My main problem with this shifter isi, it is very stiff (spring loading?) fore and aft but OK side to side. I wonder if this strong spring force fore/aft is to make the sequencial shifter operation work better
