Very well thought out item
I've been very impressed with the quality and design of this product. Included in the kit are specially adapted scissors and several comb guards allowing various lengths of cut. The scissors feel sturdy, solid and they cut well. There are no sharp points - they have a straight (top) and rounded (bottom) which allow me to feel more confident when using. I like the removable gel inserts from the thumb and finger for comfort and I think the colour is a great idea (I bought the pink ones) as they show up very well in my cat's fur. I've been using the scaredy cut on my long haired elderly cat. Unfortunately, he is no longer keen on being groomed but with the help of the scaredy cut I've managed to remove mats without causing him distress and importantly not hurt him. The comb guards help with this task and clip on and off easily. I've used the scissors with the comb guards to trim his hair where he has the potential for mats to form thereby preventing new ones from forming. This was remarkably quick to achieve (and easier/safer than my pet scissors alone) which is helpful in keeping him calm and relaxed. The comb guards are made of study plastic and are robust. I've been very pleased with my purchase. I purchased the scaredy cut after returning a set of https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wahl-Multi-Mains-Clipper-Instructional/dp/B000PTQ5HS/ref=cm_cr_dp_asin_lnk to Amazon since they were far too noisy and vibrated powerfully in my hand! There's no way I would have been able to clip my cat with the electric clippers and I was very worried about ripping his delicate skin (as this is a risk with such clippers). I think the scaredy cut is a very sensible option for achieving the same ends. Thank you for designing such a practical product and giving my cat some comfort in his twilight years. Given my experience, I wish I had the scaredy cut when my two west highland terriers were alive as it would have been absolutely perfect for them. The supplier/designer of the product is also keen to support which is a nice touch. The videos are very helpful and instructive which all help provide a safe grooming stress-fee (for cat and 'cat's staff') experience.

Simple but brilliant!
Had huge sucess with these. I have 3 Bichon Frise I groom myself. I usually use clippers as I am not talented enough to do a Bichon cut with ordinary scissors, but these made it a doddle ! Clippers are not really suitable now so I was pleased to find these- my elderly dog has delicate skin with age warts, my young dog hates them and the puppy won't keep still! If possible I'd advise to wash and dry the fur straight beforehand as this gives a much better result if you have a curly fur dog but you can still get good results by brushing and then dry trimming. I used these great little scissors to trim the body, belly, chest and legs - the bulk of the work - then finished off using ordiary scissors to shape the face, back of the neck and round the feet. The results were great on all 3 but especially on the young dog who went from being 'grooming time devil dog' to 'puppy angel'. The scissors are good quality for the price and they can be sharpened. The attachement combs are basic plastic (a metal option would be nice) but they are up to the job and stay firmly on the scissors whilst cutting. Really pleased with my purchase as it has made grooming time a lot easier for me and the dogs.

BOUGHT FOR MY TEA CUP CHORKI ( mini yorkshire terrier , chihuahua ) DOG
A very handy clipper for my chorki . I have only tried to use it once so far and it did the job very well on his body but i have yet to get him used to working around his little beard and facial area . Very worth while to get , it has different size combs ( i used the smallest ) and instructions how to easily use the item and how to clip the combs to the sissors , but its very easy to work out how to use it without instructions . Its safe and with a little work he will get used to it but my tea cup dosent really like anything around his ears or touching the inside of them , but i suppose in time he will get used to it . A very good item , i have rated four stars because i havent been able just yet to get the full use of it only because of my doggy being a little nervous .

Arrived BLUNT! 2nd pair in less than 3 days!)
These JUST arrived today. They’re blunt as heck only cutting at the very 0.5 mm end of the scissors. I literally just returned a pair (yesterday) as they were blunt and these have ARRIVED blunt. I’ve never had a problem with scaredy cuts. My first pair was forgotten at a friend’s house and definitely didn’t have this problem with them. What’s going on? How can scissors arrive blunt?! 😞

A snip!
They arrived quicker than light. much appreciated because... I bought a "low noise" cordless trimmer for Benji , enough said read my review .Benji is a Cocker Spaniel x either a Shih Tzu or a Tibetan Terrier who knows. Anyway the trimmer was a non starter so on the strength of folks reviews on here I decided to order these. Benji 's coat is adorable to look at but murder to maintain.Lovely long silky locks on the outside , cotton wool soft inner coat.He also has a pathalogical need to dive into any bramble, gorse or hawthorn bush available.Denied these then any cow pat, long dead thing, murky puddle or horse dung will do.So as he's now out of puppy coat a thorough coat overhaul was needed. He loves the comb through as a prelude to the cut. I am no expert but the results are very pleasing- well at least good enough to not make his dog friends laugh. One teeny complaint though is I feel the scissors should be a little sharper or maybe I'm trying to cut too much at once. I couldn't get the hang of using them to finish off though- the rapid cuts all over the coat bit, so did that with normal hair dressing scissors.Benji remained 100% stress free during all this so we are both very grateful for this invention. Combs are easily changed once you get the knack so no complaints really , wondering if there's any way to sharpen the scissors at all, if anybody knows I would be grateful..

Good, but not a miracle worker.
This is a great product in principle, but it still boils down to how laid back your cats are. We couldn't get to out cats back legs with a normal trimmer, and we can't with these either. Good product if your cat is fine with you probing wherever needs to be probed, but if they bolt when you go near certain parts of them (with us its the back legs of our long haired beauty), this isn't a miracle solution.

The best
Well at last I can give my little chipoos really good hair cuts lol ! They both have different hair, Stanley has really soft curly hair and Alice has straight/wavey that just grows and grows. The awful thing was that Alice hated clippers and as soon as she heard the words hair cut she was off behind the sofa. No amount of coaxing would get her out. Well, no problem now! I'm not saying she gets excited but there's no more wriggling and squirming. It's done in no time. I sent them to the clippers a few times but was really disappointed so I went on to do them at home. I loved the results but hated the time spent doing them, which seemed to take forever. The scissors have a good sharp blade and the attachments are easily removed and replaced. I found them a bit end heavy at first what with the different sized blade covers and thickened lower blade but soon got accustomed to this. It does give comfort to my fingers having the gel inserts which can be removed and it's so easy to just run the blade comb/cover against the hair growth whilst continuously cutting. All in all they are brilliant and am really annoyed with myself for not finding them a lot sooner.

Scaredy Cut ??? It's A MUST Buy!!!
I have never in my life found a more easier and comfortable product to use on my dogs. It is simple, quick and simply genius! I have four dogs but they range in thickness of furs. A Yorkshire Terrier,Westhighland White Terrier and Two of their Pups (Now 6 Yrs). They hate being brushed or groomed.I don't trust groomers after a couple of bad experiences so I prefer to do them myself. The clipping is so fast! It gets those clumpy knots out first and cuts the grooming time down to half! Once you have clipped all over their overgrowth. Then you just simply glide and snip.Pretty fast ,all in the knowledge that you are not going to cut your dog!! Comb attachments for different gradients .Perfect for this time of year.Silent! Even my most grouchy pooch allowed me to do the majority of her before she even realised what I was doing!! Don't ponder over it, It will be the BEST £20 odd pound you spend and you seriously will wonder how you managed without it!! Go Buy It. For YOU! For Your DOG!!!

Excellent product
I highly recommend this product. It is easy to use and my fussy cat looks good with her new haircut. She was happy to let me use it on her.

Belle découverte !
Pour les chiens craintifs que la tondeuse terrorise, c'est le top ! Travail propre et facile à utiliser, forcément plus long qu'à la tondeuse mais chien décontracté c'est génial !

Thank you Scaredy Cut!
This product is outstanding for many reasons and I had read all of the reviews before ordering it. It arrived quickly, much sooner than Amazon's estimated delivery date and I used it on my beloved shitzu as soon as it arrived. I couldn't believe how easy, efficient, cost effective and peaceful the trimming session proceeded. It took me less than half hour and when I was done, it was hard to differentiate between my at home trim and the $80 trim I would have paid the groomer. It wasn't perfect but my baby Jasti looked pretty good! The $32 grooming set already saved me $80 and that is with just one trim so far. I did make the silly mistake of not holding the shears with the comb side facing her skin but she was okay and other than that, she actually fell asleep during the grooming session. Check this out: no more driving to the groomer, no more spending tons of money, no more struggling to find time to bring her for a trim! I love this product and the customer service is prompt, helpful and very responsive. The creator of this amazing product is a genius and has made my life, and my shitzu's quality of life, so much better. Don't hesitate to buy this, it costs nothing when you consider that it practically trims your pet with no cost other than the grooming shears. And the attachment combs are a nice perk. I feel that this company deserves more recognition.....

They work! Great idea. Incredible service. Scissors have been UPGRADED and are now VERY sharp
I just received the Scaredy-cut clippers yesterday (Wed, June 5th) and immediately set to work on my Maine Coon cat for about an hour; a challenge when your cat has 3-inch hair and a thick undercoat! BOTTOM LINE: I loved the idea (as did she) but didn't like the scissors itself very much. They seemed dull. I watched three demo videos on the how-to's so I know I was following the instructions as best as I could. And I tried the cuts using the longest 1" head on the clippers, meaning I had less hair per chop, so that should have made it even easier. I took very small tufts of fur to cut each time, yet it still typically took me 3-4 chops with the Scaredy-cut scissors to cut through the fur. When I used our older barber scissors with her fur, it cut through the fur and undercoat like butter; one cut easily did the job each time. This confirmed to me that these Scaredy-Cut scissors need to be sharper. It could be that my pair of Scardey-Cut scissors are just defective or that these scissors are not meant to be used on long-haired cats with thick undercoats... but since the most-helpful review and the company owner, Matthew, both have Maine Coons, and use Scaredy Cut with great success, I suspect the problem is either with how I'm cutting or this particular pair of scissors I'm using. Again, I think the idea is awesome as my Maine Coon is very skittish when it comes to noises, so electric clippers were out. And she purred the entire time, thinking she was getting a lengthy massage! I *AM* impressed by the company's quick and thoughtful responses to customer concerns. Thank you for that, Matthew. -Terry PS: to be fair to the company, if I find I am cutting her hair wrongly with the scissors or that the scissors are merely defective and another pair fixes the problem, I will immediately come here and edit this review and up the star rating. I WANT this company to succeed! __________________________________________________ EDIT: Amazing. Within hours of posting this review, Matthew of Scaredy Cut had contacted me AND mailed me a replacement pair of scissors to try out. Now *that* is some impressive customer service! ************************************************** EDIT 22 March 2013: I've now had these scissors 9 months and used them to trim my Maine Coon's hair 3 times. Each time it gets a little easier and I'm faster at it. The secret is to have scissors that are tight (I had to have mine replaced) and to take my time. Cut small tufts at first and not too deep. Make more than one pass. Follow the video. It works. I cut her hair today down to the undercoat and evened out the fur and brushed her in less than an hour (this is on a VERY LARGE 14 lbs female cat!) ... and she looks pretty good. And that is taking her fur from 3 inches down to about 1/2 inch (except for her head, cowl and tail, which I didn't touch). BOTTOM LINE: They work and get the job done and my cat purrs the entire time. I will add that the scissors could be sharper, hence why the rating is only 4 star. They aren't barber-quality scissors and the thumb hole is too small for me. So I take my time and give my thumb a rest. But this is a LOT cheaper than taking the cat to a groomer, if she'd even allow it, which I doubt. My wish is this idea but with thin barber-quality scissors like we use to cut human hair, but that would seriously raise the price as such scissors are expensive. So for the money, THESE ARE GREAT! And EVERY email or inquiry is answered quickly. They bend over backwards to make you happy. Seriously! ________________________________________ Nov 26, 2014 EDIT: The company upgraded the scissors and asked me to try them out... Wow. MUCH sharper! These scissors, service and idea get 5 STARS from me now. A breeze to cut my Maine Coon's incredibly long hair and dense undercoat. I highly recommend these scissors to anyone who wants to trim their cat or dog's hair. The scissors work. My cat would *never* put up with electric clippers so this idea has been a savior for me. Thanks.
