Oversized Bike Saddle

I rarely write reviews, but I feel I must for this saddle. I am 55 and have ridden bikes most of my life and previously done much challenging MTB riding. I live in a really hilly area of south Wales and had stopped cycling for two reasons: the painful ascents and saddle soreness. I believe that correct fit and positioning of saddles can help with saddle soreness as well as padded shorts. However, I have suffered even with two layers of short and gel saddle covers. I have seen it suggested that paradoxically too many layers and indeed gel saddles can make things worse, but I struggle with the science for that. Well made light anatomical saddles importantly take pressure off the perineum, but your weight still must be supported by your seat bones (ischial tuberosities). It is all well and good for the typical cycle athlete that spends a significant amount of the time out of the seat on ascents and then who only weighs 50-70kg. However I weigh 105kg and have the same anatomy around my seat bones. Not surprising then the increased pressure causing my pain. I recently took the plunge and bought myself a high end electric bike. The bike is fantastic and has opened up the joy of cycling again. However, it came with a very good and light road bike saddle which made my first long ride very uncomfortable indeed. The thing that is not intuitive to those who have not yet used an electric bike is that you rarely stand out of the saddle, indeed long ascents are nearly always made firmly sat on the saddle. Hence, saddle soreness is likely to be much worse with electric bikes. In desperation I searched for a solution and having researched the reviews I decided to try this saddle out. It is much heavier than high end anatomical saddles designed to be as light as possible, so it will come at a cost to overall weight for normally powered bikes. However, for modern electric bikes the extra weight makes no noticeable difference. As I write, I have sat on the saddle for more than 100 miles in one week over very hilly terrain including many gravel tracks and I have not once felt uncomfortable on my seat bones. Occasional noise from the springs, but who cares? This saddle has opened up once again a very enjoyable aspect of life for me that I thought was over. Yahoo!

Having only just bought new ebikes for myself and my wife, and being of, shall we say, slightly more mature years, the stock saddles on the bikes, whilst reasonably comfortable, were lacking something in the width and springing department. Neither of us are large people but older buttocks do need a bit more support and spring! I purchased the first one for my wifes bike and it was fitted inside five minutes with no problem at all. She took it for a ride and came back smiling and declaring it, "extremely comfortable". I tried her bike and liked it so much I ordered another one for myself and as before it arrived quickly, with everything you needed to fit it, and again it was fitted in a very few minutes - probably less than three minutes this time, and on taking it for a test ride it just confirmed the first impression that it is a very very comfortable saddle. The width and the hefty springs really help to soak up the rubbish roads that abound in this area of the Lake District. It was noticeably more comfortable on rough tracks and I would say it was a really worthwhile investment. The quality of the product really stands out, and it even comes with a rain cover should you need it. I can't fault this saddle - it looks good, it is really well made and very impressive quality. If you are dithering about whether to buy or not, then based on my experience as a man of nearly 70 I can only say..."go for it and buy".

Better seat then was on the spin bike I bought. Good value softer and more comfy. Dropped a star due to it squeaks quite a lot but that’s minor.

Now I am retired and getting on a bit I bought this saddle as a wider / more supportive alternative to the one on my bike. The saddle is superb, the foam offers excellent support and the extra width really helps with comfort. The saddle well made and much lighter than expected.

Someone said saddle is perfect for electric bikes. I ride an ebike, this saddle is to hard for me, also in comparison to wide bum saddles, that I have used previously, this saddle is certainly not a wide saddle, infact in I knew that it's more like medium width saddle, I wouldn't have order it. I am hoping I'll get used to it.

Der Bikeroo Sattel sieht jetzt nicht nicht gerade sehr sportlich aus, sein großes Talent liegt in der Bequemlichkeit beim Radeln. Ich fahre den Bikeroo Sattel nun seit gut 4 Jahren ( ca. 5000km) und bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Produkt. Ich habe meinen Bikeroo Sattel per Amazone.de neu für 35.-€ gekauft. Nach einigen 1000ten geradelten km mit dem Bikeroo kann ich behaupten, der Bikeroo ist für Genieser- Radler mit aufrechter Sitzhaltung wirklich zu empfehlen. (meine Tagesdistanzen zwischen 60 - 100km) Was stimmt, welches ich zu 100% bestätigen kann, bei Bewertungen anderer über diesen Sattel gelesen. Der Sattel gibt des öfteren Geräusche von sich". Selbst dann, wenn die Problemzonen (Vorne und zu beiden Seiten hinten) gut gefettet sind. Vorne sprühe ich dann weil sehr schlecht zugänglich siliconspray mittels langen sprayröhrchen auf die knauernde Stelle unter dem Sattel. Das geht inzwischen flott. Dann habe ich wieder für mehrere Wochen Ruhe von knauernden Sattelgeräuschen. Ich habe mir inzwischen einen weiteren Bikeroo Sattel gekauft. Also nun nach inzwischen ca. 8000km gefahrenen Kilometern. . . . ja, ich habe mir selber Produkt nochmals angeschafft. Ich habe auch schon andere Sättel welche von der Bauform( Breite + Länge) zum verwechseln ähnlich sehen angeschafft. Das waren mittels Gel gepolsterte Sättel. nach 40km fängt der Popo an zu schmerzen. Gel Sattel für mich ist das nix Und ich vermute darin besteht der Bequemlichkeits Unterschied. Mein Bikeroo Sattel hat als Füllung kein Geld sondern Schaumstoff und ich vermute das macht den Unterschied aus.

Saddle is quiet comfortable and easy to install. However my bike is outside. When it has rained, and you dry the saddle afterwards, your ass will still get wet. This is because some of the water seems to get in the sides and is pressed out when you sit on it. That is not so nice.

The incoming toolkit is a little big for a full swing under the seat. Could be smaller, took too much time to setup. But overall very comfortable for daily usage with ebike Bosch

My bike came with a seat hard as a rock so I searched YOUTUBE to find suggestions on better seats and came across Bikearoo. It's truly a great seat, had no issues with riding pain or discomfort after this even though I bikes for 2-3 hours at a time. They are priced right as well. Excellent value for the money, great product.
