Q: Can you use in microwave?

never put them in the microwave. I didn't like them because they hold water when placed in dishwasher so seldom use them.

Q: How do you insert the butter so it doesn't fall out? It seems too large.

I never used the butter spreader. I just put butter in the bottom of the tray and twirl the cob to coat. Less mess and cleanup.

Q: What length of corn can be laid in the trough?

I think any normal length up to 12" would fit. Most of the corn I've had this summer is around 10" in length. My set was lost in the shipment and I got a refund. Good Luck!
