MOVA Globe Moon 4.5" with Base, Solar Powered Rotating Globe No Need of Battery or Chord, Unique Gift and Decoration

While in New York, I saw one of these (actually it was a globe not the moon) and was intrigued. Upon returning home I researched on how to find one. My girlfriend and I use the saying "Love you to the Moon and back" so when I saw this, I thought it would make an ideal gift for her. How it works is very clever. It is, in fact, a ball within a ball. The outer globe is clear and the inner globe is the Moon which is surrounded by a clear liquid. The clever bit is inside the Moon. I'm not totally sure how it works but inside the Moon globe is a magnet(s) which with the use if solar energy reacts with the Earth's magnetic field and causes the Moon to silently rotate. You do need to place it where there is good light source, eg window sill, by a lamp etc. Once in position the globe will start to rotate. It makes a lovely conversation piece and is quite mesmeric.

Absolutely wonderful - looks good, is a great talking point! Makes you thoughtful about the universe! It is my third after Mars and Jupiter. Also, relaxing just to watch.

The media could not be loaded. My daughter loves her moon mova globe. Only problem now is, she wants the whole collection!Adults and children equally amazed by it!

Interesting talking point, larger than I expected, it looks as though it's almost floating on air and is an excellent addition to my 6" MOVA globe!

Already have a planet earth and wanted a moon to add to the collection. very happy with both. I could spend hours watching them spin on their axis.

Works amazingly well in low light. Fab technology. But Moon is very dull and drab. Actually amazon photo is accurate, but I thought it would be brighter in practice. Why didn't the go for a design that looks more like the bright moon we see?!!!!
