Interesting book with great illustrations
Very interesting book with great illustrations in color. Also, good use of primary sources if you're doing a research paper.Be advised that if you're a real cat lover, you may find some of the content distressing. Cats had a very mixed reputation in the medieval period and the author covers the bad as well as the good.I suggest hanging on through the bad parts. If nothing else, they offer some insight into why some people today dislike cats.

If Cats Could Read this Would be a History Book for Them.
If you love cats, you have to have this book. The long ago artists must have loved cats because some of the expressions captured are so spot on. The author adds info about cats during this time period. It is a small book but well worth it.

What a delightful little book!
The illustrations in this book are amusing, and the commentary is interesting, albeit occasionally distressing (the time period was not particularly kind to cats), and gives a better view of what the life of a cat was like back then. I enjoyed seeing how many ways a cat could be portrayed.

Cats Rule!
This book is a MUST HAVE for all cat lovers! It is also for history buffs, who happen to love cats, like me. Kathleen Walker-Meikle has worked hard in her field of animals and medicine in the middle ages and this book shows her love of the topic. With illustrations and explanations of the cat, it is awe-inspiring.

Historan's delight
Cats! I really had not realized how often cats appear in authentic Medieval illumination. I bought this little book because I'm a history buff, and enjoy recreating scrolls for SCA illumination. Many of my clients want their cats shown, and here are excellent examples of how to do it.

Great cat graphics and some fascinating info
Great cat graphics and some fascinating info. Who knew Irish cats had an actual monetary value? Or that medieval works routinely referred to sparrows as Philip? Live and learn...

Cats in manuscript marginalia show that medieval scribes had a sense of humour. Love this book.

AMO este libro
No esperes gatitos dulces y bonitos.
