All of the tongs I have received when I get a new hookah have been lightweight metal ones. The quality is low, but they do what they’re supposed to do … move the coal around. For a few dollars, I can get a decent pair of tongs, but these are the Rolls Royce of tongs. They are expertly crafted and well-balanced. The metal parts are a silver alloy, which should tolerate heat well. The body of the tongs Is comprised of a polished beechwood. The silver-colored metal travels up the inner center of the tongs, something that should prevent the coals from burning the wood. These are beautiful tongs, a well-crafted pair that should last for years. These are very expensive, but it’s up to the buyer to decided what they want to spend.

Although a nice pair of tongs, I just don't understand the price. A big 'K' on it looks like a monogram. Item description says stainless steel but it doesn't look like that. Manufacturer's description on their own website says aluminum. I plan on re-purposing it for use in the kitchen, might be OK for using to pick olives off app tray.

These are beautifully made, well constructed, and almost more of a piece of art than functional tongs. They would make a lovely gift. The metal is so black there is no contrast with the wood which almost makes one believe they are not metal at all. That's the basis for my "problem". I had expected contrast and perhaps a better quality metal considering they are designed to handle charcoal. I'm afraid to try them for their intended purpose. They are simply too beautiful to risk ruining. As art I give them extremely high marks. As for function they feel and operate fantastically well but I'm afraid to find out how the operate with high heat.

These are really beautiful - in fact, I never thought there was any such thing as "luxury tongs," but these certainly fit into such a category. I'm not sure I see a reason for such an item, but they sure are pretty. They get the job done very well and look sexy doing it. Theyre well made and feel substantial and good in the hand. All that being said, the price in off the wall, even if it's being given as a gift. I would not recommend these solely based on the cost. That's why I knocked a star off. The tongs themselves are gorgeous, but come on, now.
