Power Technologie - USB HUB 3.0 & card reader 4 in 1 for tablet Microsoft Surface Pro 7 to Pro 2, Surface 3 and Surface 2

I bought the USB 2.0 version of this product for my Surface Pro 2 but I returned it as it would not power my Buffalo USB hard disk drive. Bidul the suppliers told me there was a USB 3.0 version on the way which I have now purchased. It works with the Buffalo but there are a couple of issues. Sometimes the HDD will only power up in USB 2.0 mode; there are lights indicating the mode on the drive. On other occasions the hub has failed to power the drive at all. I written to Bidul about these issues twice through Amazon but have not had a reply which is disappointing.On the plus side the manufacturer has addressed a problem with the first version whereby the hub obstructed the external volume control on the Surface.

For £29.20 I was expecting something a bit more substantial, like a metal shell instead of a plastic one. The plastic feels of the kind that won't last, and will easily crack or chip. The USB ports were not aligned properly with the cut-outs, and were extremely tight when trying to plug USB cables into, to the point that the amount of resistance I was encountering caused me to think that the pins had bent. The upside is that the casing is formed to fit with the styling of the Surface Pro4, with the sloping sides.

Overpriced. Doesn't function as expected.When I insert an SD card and a micro SD card only one shows up on my Surface Pro 2 so I cannot copy between the two.The seller cannot be contacted directly to advise on this problem, you have to go through Amazon CS - they have suggested the item is faulty and advised that I return it for a refund and place an order for a replacement. However, it is not clear whether this is a fault or simply limitation of the product - I believe it's probably the latter. If so, it should be clearly indicated in the listing.As I've seen mentioned elsewhere, it is also quite cheaply made and doesn't have the level of finish you might expect from the images/for this price range.

This is a handy enough device for my on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It is a lot of money really for what it is, which is why only the 4 stars. It does cover the display port while in use, but I don't use that port, so not an issue for me.

Works well but feels a little cheap and fragile, need to see if it survives in the longer term

It is exactly what I wanted. I have not yet had an occasion to use it, because it is a Christmas present

nice, works well with my Surface Pro 4. A bit flimsy but ok

Very useful add-on for the Surface, it looks the part on the device and increases the functionality of the device. My only problem is occasionally the USB hub stops working and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in before it will detect the hub. Other than that great product, should come as an optional extra with a surface.
