Hot!!
I read all the other reviews and as it was very mixed I thought I'd give them a go as its a fantastic idea! I have a multi fuel closed steel burner. I normal use coal eggs,so when I had a few embers left I put around 1/4 box of coffee logs on. I had it in damp down mode. It really does produce a lot of smoke but let a liitle air in and it goes off..big flames plus 20 minutes and the heat coming off is the hottest I have ever had my fire. We had to sit in the back room for the first hour! It burns hotter than anything I've used. It last about a third longer than soft would and same as hard wood, and about a quarter of coal egg times. The logs were whole and only slightly crumbly. No smells (but its a closed glass front burner). Very little but fine ash. Mixed with coal eggs you would use a third less for same output. Problem is they are expensive, and sorry little companies but this stuff needs producing en masse to get to an economic price. £2.99-£3.99 and it would replace logs in general, especially for closed units. I would buy and use as a main fuel if that price could come down. All in all a great product, fantastic idea

Good fuel but pricey
This is a good product. The 'logs' arrived in good condition and burn easily and hotly with a nice flame. I burn them in a Dunsley Woodburner. Little ash is left. Don't prod them with a poker though or they collapse to dust. I didn't notice any smell and, so long as you don't prod them, they don't give off a lot of smoke either. I really like the idea of using post-consumer coffee waste to produce a fuel. As a 'renewable' fuel source this is a great idea. What troubles me is the price. They're expensive compared to air dried wood or coal. If Bio-Bean can bring the price point down I'll definitely be buying more. Edited to say I've burnt more than 10 bags of these with no problems. Also had a relative burn them in an open fire without any issues.

Very good product, minimal waste and mess, optimal heat and convenience.
Bought these on impulse and have since bought more. We use them in our wood burner once it has got going and they do fine, plenty of heat and each one lasts about 75 to 90 minutes partially dependent on how much draught you're giving the fire. They leave very little ash, but "don't" use a poker on them once they're in the fire, or they'll just turn to powder on the spot. Couldn't see much smoke coming out of the chimney, and while they smell pleasantly of coffee on opening the bag, they don't smell of anything when burning. All in all very happy with these but would like a bigger discount for bulk purchase ;-)

Burns hot, but expensive and questionable overall eco-friendly impact
As an alternative to burning wood, I thought i'd give Coffee Logs a try. They sounded promising - burning hotter than wood and eco-friendly. Alas, although this is generally true, there's a few downsides. Each bag only contains 16 logs, and for those who are used to buying in wood logs of around 12", these are about half the size at ~6". A bag of 16 logs currently costs £10.00, or £8.00/bag when you buy 2. This ends up being a bit more expensive than buying in kiln dried logs. Although the logs burn very hot, they last around the same amount of time or slightly less as wood logs. Once burning, they don't give off any visible smoke, but if they smoulder (e.g. because the fire has died down, or because you accidentally knocked one out of the burner whilst adding more fuel), they give off lots of smoke, and not a pleasant smelling smoke either! I definitely try to make sure they are as far back in the burner as possible now to avoid the risk of stinking out the room again... I have to give credit to Bio Bean for recycling waste coffee grounds, but i'm a little uncertain of how eco-friendly the overall process is. Presumably, the waste grounds are transported from somewhere to Bio Bean's factory, from there to an Amazon Warehouse, and from there to me. From the Amazon Warehouse that it was dispatched from to me alone is over 200 miles - so all in all these logs might have travelled several hundred miles to get to you - a fair bit of pollution in itself. Additionally, although they come in a tough paper bag, Amazon additionally packages them with paper padding and cardboard. Compare this to wood logs, which I buy from a local supplier - they're grown no more than 10 miles away and delivered directly in a reusable builder's bag. Overall, I really like the idea of Coffee Logs. They do burn well, but given their price and questionable environmental impact once you take transport in to account I can't recommend them as a primary source of fuel for a burner. I will still likely buy them now and again, as they do make a good 'top up' when I want a bit of extra heat for the burner, or for when I have run out of logs and need a delivery urgently (i.e. next day, via Prime). Here's hoping that in the long run, Bio Bean can improve on pricing and sustainability of delivery! It's a promising product overall.

Great affordable log
16 logs in the bag for 8quid delivered is great. They burn well, great heat, better than kiln dried logs. Just don't try to start the fire with them, best add them to an already well underway fire. ***Update March 2023*** I've consistently bought these logs as additional fuel to put into our inset stove. Again, not something to start a fire with but add them when the fire is out the way out and you have the air supply turned down low to get the most out of these logs
