Pros:-Snaps onto the side really easily, convenient to attach or remove-Easier to pop off for cleaning than having to remove the top of the cage to take out an internal wheel-Solid plastic so it doesn't risk hurting my mouse's toes while he runs-Has the *concept* of a waste trayCons:-The waste tray is kind of difficult to attach and is loosely held in by one flimsy plastic tab. When my new wheel came that tab was broken, so it is essentially nonfunctional.-Because the entire wheel is external you have to pull it apart to clean the inside. With my first wheel this led to the tabs that hold it together snapping off (☹️). As a concept it is super cool to have it completely external because it frees up cage space inside, but it would be nice if there was an easier way to take it apart and reassemble, because my mouse loves to potty while he runs and I need to spot clean it VERY often.-Frequently taking it apart and putting it back together can make it get a little squeaky. Not too bad though, and coconut oil can help with the squeaking a little.All in all, my mouse loves his wheel and uses it constantly. We got the first one in a set with other items, and I'm glad this is on Amazon because I was really struggling to find a replacement wheel being sold separately from that kit. Other wheels are more durable, but with how small the crittertrail cages tend to be I like this external wheel because it saves a lot of cage space for my mouse

I have a Russian winter white dwarf hamster and it fits her just fine. I would be wary on using this if you have a Syrian hamster (alternate names golden hamster, black bear hamster, teddy bear hamster.) Syrians are the largest breed for hamsters and must have a 11in wheel or bigger no exceptions!! Anything smaller and will cause back problems, arthritis, and rarely break their backs in the smaller wheels. The only exception is if you have very small Syrian (4in long), but wait till they are six months old to see their full growth. Then this wheel will be ok. This is good for dwarf hamsters, Chinese hamsters, and mice. The wheel will come in assorted colors. You don’t get to pick the colors. This is just how critter trail products are. The wheel is quiet and turns freely. Make sure when you attach it to tube that is it properly supported or it will pop off the tubes. You don’t want your hammy to escape. The wheel is hard to clean. Hammys also confuse it for a den and stuff if full of bedding. Mine does not do that. So get a pair pliers and very carefully pinch the clip on the outside together and the wheel comes apart. Then it’s super easy to clean. Repeated pinching the clip after a while will break one of pins off. Don’t worry it will still work with only half the clip and will make it even easier to get a part now. It will break completely eventually, so buy a new one when it does or you can fix is will a dowel rod, screw, and a hatch pin clip. My wheels, this one and my silent spinner will make noise after being washed. The easy fix is lube the axel with Pam, or small amount of WD40, or dish soap. The wheel will be silent again. Doing this should make any wheel much quieter. My hamster does not like it when a seed gets in there with her. It makes too much noise. People do complian that the waste does not collect everything. This is just apart of being a hamster owner, if having to sweep up a small amount of poopies or wood shavings off the floor bothers you dont get a hamster. lol :) Do empty the waste cup every day too. Make sure to snap it all the way into place or the handle on it will rub on the wheel making a loud clanking noise.

Ive tried several wheels for our habitrail and this one really did work out the best. Our ham does occasionally turn it into a bedroom and so I've purchased two more wheels and added just one to the cage. So now she has a wheel bed plus a treadmill for her exercise. The third wheel I keep on standby for when either of the wheels need to be changed--which is kind of frequently. After a while, the wheel does start to screech a little bit because the hard plastic is rubbing on more hard plastic and I'm sure there's heat being generated. I've just taken some regular vaseline and rubbed it onto the connector rod that goes into the wheel base and it totally solved the problem! I thought that using wd40 wouldn't be too good for ham, so the vaseline was perfect.! Very quiet wheel! DO make sure that your wherever you place your wheel on your cage, it is positioned only a few inches from a safe place for your ham to make a "landing". Our ham has managed to disconnect the wheel from the tube a few times, however we've always found her alive and well as she's only fallen a short distance to the carpet. The tube connectors really do become weak and make less of a tight fit after they've been in use for a while. In our case, for over a year!Now that I've said all of that....her new cage will be here over the weekend! She's grown so healthy and "large", she can no longer safely get through the habitrail tubes! :-/

I am sure this would have been a great wheel had my teddy bear hamsters hair not gotten caught in the plastic in the middle as he spun around. We love Kaytee products and were sad that this happened as the last wheel we bought broke after two weeks. we had to crack the wheel open to get him out. He was panicking and his hair just kept getting more and more twisted,Just want to leave this review so that no other hamster is possibly injured. This maybe is not the right wheel for long haired hamsters.The seller is amazing, product was durable , and nice color. Speedy delivery. This review is no bearing on seller but of product itself

Works well! But makes noise when hamster runs

Elle est parfaite !Au bout de quelques temps l'usure l'a rend bruyante. A chaque nettoyage je mets un peu d'huile (avocat ds mon cas) et c'est réglé. Deux de mes souris en on fait leur lit mais ce n'est pas la roue la cause. Puisqu'elle peut être installée à l'extérieur, il n y a pas de perte d'espace.Elle donne envie à mes souris plus âgées de bouger.

Went through 2 wheels before finally bought this one. Shipping was quick. Hamster finally has a wheel that she loves. So happy with this purchase. Its spins great, and sits perfectly in her curent setup. Finally found our Hamsters pefect wheel. ❤️

Fast shipping. Great product. Only downside for me is that I thought it would be pink like the picture, but I received a blue one. Other than that, works great.
