Why won't this work on wooden track?

The wooden tracks were designed for a different type of train. These trains were designed with a bumpy wheel to work on tracks with bumps and rails, to keep them on, as these trains will travel across the floor if they get off the track lol. They may also be different sizes.

Yes, it works in all Thomas and Friends tracks. This is also battery operated.

Does this work on the Thomas Wooden tracks?

It might, but not in the way intended. These little trains like to move across almost anything.
