I was after a pair of shorts for day to day wear during hotter weather, walking the dog etc. These are pretty good and very comfortable, I’d like to find some a little shorter but otherwise they are a good hard wearing pair which will be useful over the summer and maybe beyond.

Great quality and good choice for those of us that are of a certain age and look stupid in more fashionable shorts, handy pockets, and just long enough so that your nob doesn’t hang out of the leg if you want to go commando.

Not much give which can make reaching into the deep pockets annoying. When doing heavy squats in these ended up with bruising on the tops of my legs as the material goes tight. Don't think a size up would help as waist band feels good. Seem like that would last a long time though. Good quality.

Very Difficult to find short shorts for general wear in warmer weather, most styles these days are knee length. These shorts are true to size, XL is comfortable for 38'', legs are wide enough to cope with muscular thighs. Side pockets are very deep; down to hem. Makes walking with items in pockets a little strange, but is very secure for mobile phones, keys etc, as very unlikely to fall out. Fabric is robust and quite thick which gives them an advantage over say running shorts which use thin material. The polyester fabric is very breathable. Fit is good, but quite snug around the backside. I can't say what they are like for Rugby, but as a general pair of shorts they will do well

comfy fit and nice material - as a leisure short will be good enough even for casual wear - for sport I expect them to be hard wearing.

My son loves these , I buy him a medium in everything so went for a medium in these and they arr the perfect fot he wears to rugby training and says they are very comfortable, they have been washed numerous times and the quality is fab

If you're a forward then these aren't for you, your "Muscular' backside will mean the shorts are to tight around the top front of the leg, difficult to chase that annoying scrum half or squat to pick up your gum shield you spat out gasping for breath.

Trying to find decent rugby shorts with pockets is hard. These are great. Pockets are really deep, so great for everyday. Not a lot of stretch (to be expected from the material) so not ideal for squats or anything like that. Would buy these again 👍

Got these in navy XL for $12.07. Compared to the Canterbury TACTIC shorts I have in the same size these are about an inch shorter in the inseam and are made of a much thicker and heavier material, weighing at least twice as much. There is a panel about two inches wide that runs the length of each side of the shorts. It cuts down pocket space but as the pockets run to the hem you get a lot of space, even without a back pocket. Would prefer same colour logo or no logo, a back pocket and an inch or two more in the inseam but these are not that kind of short. They're rugby shorts that are tough and have some of the best side pockets going around. If you get them close to the price I did I'd be surprised if you weren't impressed. I'd buy more at twice the price.

These are very sturdy and I really like the material. However, they are not optimal for things like squats since they lack the stretch in the material. Length is perfect and pockets are very deep, allowing me to keep my iPhone in the pocket without loosing it during a jog.

Canterbury shorts are my rugby short of choice! Best quality, it took me about 4 years (of year around rugby) before I had to replace my Canterbury shorts. After all that time, I had the crotch seam bust open, but it was easily fixable with a little sewing. I got these as my back-up pair
