The most comfortable open-backed sandals EVER
My last pair of Birkenstock Arizona sandals were the best slip-in/slip-out open-backs ever, and lasted five years. So when I decided to replace them I was delighted to discover the same design still available online. In my case they are only worn around the house and never go outside, but they would be perfectly good as outdoor summer shoes as well. The Arizonas have cork inner soles which feel very rigid when new, but don’t be deterred: the cork slowly ‘gives’ as it moulds to your foot. Adjust the strap-buckles to fit your feet, and within a couple of weeks they feel delightfully comfortable. Because of the moulded-cork inners they always stay on your feet even when walking or running, despite being open-backed. The sandals are available in a range of colours from classic black and various brown shades, to a funky blue.Eventually after a few years of wear, the cork slowly separates from the rubber sole and that’s when you’ll need a new pair. However considering the quality of the product, they are outstanding value. If you’ve never worn Birkenstock sandals before and are uncertain of your size, best go to a high-street/shopping mall retailer and try them until you find your size. After that initial purchase, you can buy subsequent/replacement pairs cheaper online.

Check your sizes before you order!!
Been wearing these for many years but usually bought in a shop, size 39. after reading the reviews about sizes I ordered carefully under UNISEX shoes. I ordered a 37 which seemed the correct size (6/7) stated. When they came they were not the correct size, so I ordered up to a 38 which have come today and they are still on the small side, I should have just ordered the 39 like my other pairs. Might be best to try on in shops or just order your usual European size.these shoes are wide and comfy and the more you wear them the more comfy they become and they last ages, coping well with rain and all British weathers!I was mega impressed how easy it was to send the small ones back and have the new ones delivered quickly. Not keen on Amazon usually tbh but fair play to them for the no fuss experience this was.

I'm converted
My other half is a big Birkenstock fan and has been trying to talk me into a pair for the past 3 years. While I'm stubborn, he's patient and determined... he eventually won. I purchased these as my first pair. Mainly because they looked like soft fabric rather than the hard, stiff upper that I know would give me blisters. It happens to me with every pair of shoes that are stiff if I can't wear socks.Ordering was not the most straight forward experience. I'm a standard UK, women's size 6. The size options for these were 5, 5.5 or 7. As a result, I had to check the Birkenstock site to see if this was an actual thing. As it turned out, their 5.5. is pretty much a 6.So, I selected the 5.5 and committed to them. They arrived the next day and are much better than I expected. The upper part of the shoes is soft and does not rub. The lower supports my foot nicely. The only issue is that, because it is moulded to the foot, it sometimes sticks before releasing with a 'farty' noise. I wear mine around the house so it doesn't matter but I could imagine that this could make for some awkward misunderstandings in public. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the purchase. :D

Trial and error but don't despair
Quality, style exactly as expected from this brand however, after reading the reviews I ordered a slightly larger size than normal but they were too big and had to be returned. I have since ordered my usual size and these are fine. It is important to get it right with this type of shoe so I think it's trial and error but returns are easy so don't despair just give yourself plenty of time if ordering for holiday etc.

Comfortable, practical & stylish
Very comfortable and practical for summer and they look great with jeans or summer dresses. I bought the version with the softer lining which are very gentle on the feet. The arch support, which I need because of an ankle problem, is excellent. The first time I wore them I did get a blister on my in-step, so it's worth wearing them around the house to break them in a bit, but after that they were absolutely fine and fit like a dream.I'm really glad to see that these have been all over the fashion pages and style blogs this year, and that 'ugly' sandals are in again!

Just buy them!
Having been someone who could not wear between the toe sandals/flip flops my entire life for the pain of them, these are an absolute game changer. I’ve heard them spoken about for years and just took the plunge. They’re hard and honestly pretty uncomfortable the first few times they’re worn, like walking with bricks on your feet BUT do as they say and wear them in. I’ve now had them a couple of months and they’re incredibly comfy, so light on my feet and I wear them daily! Will now only be buying Birkenstocks for this type of shoe. Well worth the price! It took roughly 2 weeks for them to break in.

Really wanted to love these... my feet hate them!
I tried so hard to love these, but my feet just don't work in them. Have worn them walking for a few months, totaling well over 30 miles. The footbed continues to be uncomfortable, and, in fact, makes my toes numb!! I think it's due to the raised toe ridge under my big toe. Also, despite ordering the narrow fit, they're still quite wide. I have slightly narrow feet but have never had to order narrow shoes before. Also, there's very little cushioning so if you need a shoe that minimizes impact, these are terrible.Really wanted to love them, but my feet and hips hurt every time I wore them. Would have returned them but they won't accept worn shoes (understandably.) When I see people walking in them, I am in awe that their feet aren't killing them!!

Get a half size up
I bought these being a regular sandle wearer I had been recommended then quite a few times so took the plunge n spent what is a lot for some sandles, after wearing them for a few days I've still not managed to break them in very uncomfortable the ridge that hoes under your toes rubs. They just about fit me but I wish I had bought a half size up. More shoes need a better size guide.
