Very good quality
Very pleased with the performance of this induction cooktop. Easy to adjust temperature and fast heating. Would buy again.

Works well but just be careful how you handle it.
Easy to use and control the temperature. Be careful about how you pick up the item as it has a cheap plastic cage around the fan, underneath. Without realizing this I picked up the first one I owned and broke it. Despite this I did buy a second because I enjoyed the instant heat. It is a time saver as well as energy saver.

Better than IR cooktop. Made for tinkerers.
This is my first magnetic induction hot plate. The refurb was a new open box PIC Gold Pro version. I'm now sure that these were made by engineers for engineers and tinkerers. The input settings for Watts and temperature sometimes has a side effect in the duty cycle that causes temperature variations. I had to check how well it heats because I've had some really bad hot plates in the past. The PIC Gold Pro is labelled 700/900/1500 Watts. I measured 660/860/1180 Watts. The 1500W only works at the 575 degree "Sear" temp setting. That is the TURBO mode. I also noted the lower temps used the 1180W (1500W displayed) power setting and had a 70% duty cycle which didn't work as well for boiling water. The 900W setting had a 100% DC so they are actually the same average power except for the Sear temp setting. For the least temperature variations it should have the lowest Watts and highest duty cycle that can maintain the cooking temp. The DC is not displayed so I thought that I'd need to figure out when to pick the 600W or the 900W setting to get the highest DC. With a 10" pork chop sauté pan at 375 med high, there doesn't seem to be a DC and the power is 100% constant 750W which works great. A 12" potato skillet at 375 had a constant 950W and a 8" egg pan at 375 had a constant 650W. The 12" pan was cooler on the edges so it did have a hot spot in the middle 8" area. Some 12" pans are better than others at spreading the heat. My 12" T-fal 5 qt jumbo cooker with an iron base does a good job. My 12" stainless pans focus the heat on the 8" area. The PIC Gold Pro version temp selections are 100/175/275/375/425/575 and then it can go up or down in 5 deg steps. It really could use a 325 setting instead of the 275 setting. I can see myself jumping between 275 and 375 often to avoid waiting for the +/- buttons. I got rid of my cast iron set many many years ago and now I'm really looking forward to getting back into cooking with iron and a 5 qt dutch oven is needed for boiling pasta since my old one won't work with the induction burner. The induction ready pans with an iron base should work better with my IR stovetop too since the DC on it causes big problems with temp variations at lower temps. Note: Be careful to preheat pans at 600W or 900W before using the 1500W Sear temp setting. I read several reviews that pans cracked because of uneven heating. The boil pots and flat cast iron grill plates will be more resistant to cracking but can still crack from rapid heating or cooling. And if using high temps, be aware of the flash point of any oils used. I measured a cast iron pan during preheating at 460 degrees when it was set to 375. Temps WILL overshoot when preheating and cause the oil to smoke and char in the pan. It may be best to preheat at 275 but be aware that it automatically uses a lower wattage and will take longer. Update: I've bought a full set of tri-ply cookware and several cast iron chef skillets to use with this hot plate. These spread heat more evenly to the edges of the pan. The sauce pans (pots) heat more evenly up the sides. I have to say that with the induction burner, a good iron base pan is usually better than tri-ply for frying and boiling.

Very useful appliance!
Works great..we have gas appliances so when they run out this is ready to go till we get to the store. You can use these anywhere there's elec outlet. I had two of the first ones they made years ago & loved them..I let one overheat & it quit working so I got one of these updated ones to replace it. They are great!

Excellent! And 40 bucks cheaper for clicking a refurbished one when it looks like it was new never opened!

This one is probably the best for the money if you can buy refurbished as I did, maybe new one also worth the money for someone. Pros: - This really has wide heating area of 8" unlike many others advertise, but not have. - This is very important for even heating. The heating is really more even and powerful than few others I have tried. - The controls are the best you can find - clear and flexible to choose what and you want to cook - It has real temp sensors measuring the temperature of the actual cookware, not internal which is irrelevant - It is nice looking device and easy to clean - It is relatively quiet, more than others i tried, much more than some. Functionality is great. Cons: Keep in mind what are your goals to buy because this one: - require compatible cookware - does not speed up cooking process - does not have enough power for really high temp searing But it is great as a gift, great if you need and want best control over cooking process to quickly change cooking temperature, to keep it precise, not to guess, flexible settings and convenience of controls. Highly recommend although I returned my because I was looking for more powerful than a regular electric range for searing and this is not a specialty of any (looks like) induction cooktops. I tried many, this one is the best in its class (consumer), I really, really wanted to keep it, but It does not eliminate the need for a range, so I had to choose money instead.

I received my Nuwave induction cooktop on time and undamaged. Given the mixed reviews on this refurbished product, I felt like I was taking a chance. However, so far I'm impressed. I've been using induction cooktops for several years now but I'm enjoying being able to set the watts used and the fine temperature control. I also like the dimpled surface of the cooktop making it a little less slippery than others I have used. It cooks a little slower than my last unit which was rated at 1800 watts, but I'd rather have the flexibility of lower temperatures for simmering and melting butter without burning it. At this point, I'm a happy customer.

Works well. I got the refurbished model. It works well. I wish it were a bit more powerful, but it's better than my previous one.
