Great grill! Customers in Canada beware!
The grill works as described. I have made a handful of meals on it now and all have turned out awesome. I will however give a word of warning to anyone living in Canada buying this grill. I did have a warranty issue with the controller in the beginning, I contacted Z Grills and they were more than happy to send me a new control board. That’s until they found out I lived in Canada. They will not ship anything to Canada. Which makes me wonder what good the 3 year warranty is?! I then contacted Amazon and as usual, they have never let me down. Offered to replace the unit with no questions asked. Even offered to cover the cost if I managed to find one locally. I love you Amazon! Hands down best customer service!

Er2 Error code on Day 1.. Less than helpful troubleshooting and initial start-up directions.
Built in less than and hour and was impressed with look. Unfortunately looks do not translate to quality with zGrill. Brand new unit and it is Dead on Arrival (DOA). Unit is displaying error code 2 and I cannot find any online support to speak of. I understand that things can and will go wrong with almost any product, but zGrill has nothing available to troubleshoot when they are not working- much like the 700E I purchased. I am sending it back and hoping no one else is getting this unpleasant surprise for Christmas.. Best of luck with your grill search and I suggest you look elsewhere as zGrill unfortunately has some quality control issues to work out.UPDATE:Apparently the problem with my 700E was with the directions provided by zGrill, not the working condition of the unit. When you turn on the zGrill 700E for the first time, turn the control dial to "Shut Down Cycle" before" you flip the power switch to the "ON" position. If you fail to do so you will get the "Er2" error code. When you power the unit "ON" from the "Shut Down Cycle" position, you can then turn the dial to "Smoke" and subsequently the cooking temperature you want to use. Unfortunately I did not discover this flaw until a sent my first 700E back to zGrill. While I was very frustrated with the 700E, Amazon customer service was A M A Z I N G. The unit was replaced without issue within 72 hours therefore I am bumping up my review from a one to a three thanks to Amazon customer service..Update (#2)Z Grill continues to work well and without significant issue. The only challenge temperature control which is a little inconsistent. Perfect smoke rings everytime but I would suggest a smaller unit for flavor inensity if are not cooking in bulk on a regular.*Adding another star for reliability and value.

it is a good combo smoker/grill
Pros: easy to set up, easy to follow instructions. Only issue with tools provided is there were two sizes of nuts, but two wrenches that were the same size. Cooking is pretty much set and forget. There is a meat thermometer hole with grommet to keep smoke and heat inside. You do have to raise and lower chimney cap to allow more heat in/out if you want more/less smokey meats and cheeses.Cons: the heat is a bit inconsistent. You can set the dial to 225 and check on it a little while later it will be 285. But you open the chimney up and let more heat out to get it down to where you want it.If Z-Grills reads these, here is an idea for a better grill. I am fine using pellets as fuel to heat and smoke. But make the smoke part on its own auger and pot with a lower amp burner to just get smoke without the heat. The one pot will stop feeding pellets but keep the fire burning until heat drops. The fan makes it not smoke at that time so all you get is heat without smoke. I like my meats smokey. Especially when making jerkies. If you can figure out how to make it smoke and keep consistent heat, you will have one hell of a grill.

Seems difficult to assemble but so easy my 3yo helped
Had an initial shipping problem which Amazon (of course) corrected immediately . Once the unit was here, putting it together was a breeze. To my amazement all the parts were there, and it was completed in a little over an hour, and that was assembling it by myself. Very well built and all the parts aligned perfectly. Now to the actual use: This is the first pellet BBQ I have owned and I was a little pensive using it for the first time. My apprehension however was soon set aside. My first cook was a pork shoulder, absolutely came out perfect. Fork tender.Second cook was a mixture. Again perfect and juicy. Just finished a 22lb turkey and thrilled with the result. The operation of the unit is quite simple, load, the hopper with your desired flavored pellets, set the temp and cook away. The only reason I did not give this a five star rating is because of the pellet hopper. If you want to change pellets you have to remove them by hand, but because of the grate in the hopper you can't get them all. I have ordered a small one gallon vacuum to resolve that issue, other than that I am over all very pleased , and would purchase again. Don't waste your money on higher dollar units, you will be very happy with a Z Grill...

Customer Support
Overall this grill is as solid as they come. The assembly was very straight forward with the supplied tools and hardware. I did have a problem (initially) with the grill's control unit. I immediately contacted customer support by phone and by email. I would suggest contacting them by phone as it is much quicker. Apparently there were some issues with the control board after support helped with a on phone diagnostic. Within five days I had a well packaged (upgraded) version of the original controller at my home. I replaced the controller and re contacted customer support after installing the new unit. The support representative did a step by step startup of the grill and all was fixed. As a business owner I realize and find great value in product customer support. Z-Grills have all of that. I could not be more pleased.
