I've got 3 of these and all work well but... 1) don't lose the USB cable you cannot get a spare 2) Practice opening closing the case before you put a drive in it - there is a trick to it :=)) 3) Some descriptions do not say it is SATA only 4) This particular one comes with a useful padded sticker to hold drive in place 4) Seen by all versions of Windows and self installs easily 5) Shop around for a good price - if they LOOK the same they ARE the same!

The one I got had a mini usb 3.0 connection so extra cable to carry. Main issue was that although partition and disk level tasks were performed OK if bulk file transfers were attempted over a few MB and several hundreds of files the device seems to stall. Window 10 task manager indicated 100 % activity and blue light was on constant. Sometimes after 10-15 mins all would start again but often got a system failure message indicating a telegraph token failure. Was connected to a high power USB 3.0 port. Problem same for HDD and SSD disks and sizes between 160GB and 1TB using Windows or 3rd party Utilities. Even throttling the data flow back to few MB did not resolve the problem. Seems like the SCSI interface controller on the unit is not providing the correct data flow control or such like. System has not had any similar problems with a variety of WD USD portable drives of similar capacities. Item returned to Amazon.

Having bought this item based on the stellar reviews I had seen, I must confess I was disappointed! I tried three hard disks, two from broken laptops and one from an external hard drive but they were not recognised. In disk management, while trying to initialise the disk I was greeted with a 'fatal device hardware error' message. At first I thought the hard drives were faulty, and tried to search for similar problems on the Internet. This yielded no satisfactory results. I changed the usb cables as advised by some sites to no avail. Finally I decided to uncouple one of my external hard drives (transcend store jet) to try if the broken laptop's hard drive would work. To my surprise it worked after connection. This shows that the SATAIII connector for the MANTISTEK hard drive caddy must have been faulty which renders the whole product useless no matter how solid and beautiful the body might look! I would sincerely like a refund or a replacement!

Awesome Enclosure. Will order a few more. SUPER easy to install drive. Works with Hi Def Video files while I edit with Adobe. Very quick. HIGHLY Recommend

Good quality. Good price. Why have a limited USB stick when you can effectively have a flash drive over 1TB if you wanted ? :)
