Atmospheric, addictive and rewarding
Absolutely love this game. It's loaded with atmosphere, especially if you use the headphone mode to play it where you'll hear zombies creeping up behind you etc.I've not been quite so drawn into a game since I played the original Splinter Cell, which seems like a lifetime ago now.The storyline is good and there are plenty of choices of difficulty levels so that even the novice gamer should not get frustrated and stuck. If you do you can just hop to the MiiVerse where other gamers will be more than happy to give you tips. The gamepad is extremely well used. The multiplayer game takes a bit of getting used to to work out what's going on buy stick with it and you'll get there. This is an excellent release game and one that will last you many hours and all your friends will want to have a go at when they come round. There's only 2 save slots, one for survival mode, where you only get one life to complete the game, and one for the normal mode where you re-spawn if you die. You then have to go find your last character and attack it to get your weapons and supplies back - nice! It's a shame there's not more save slots so friends can have their own games saved but it's a small criticism. There's an internet tie in to Ubisoft and as you complete certain goals in the game, you can, from the game menu, access bonus downloads from their site to enhance the game and the menus - no spoilers though!Overall an amazing release game loaded with atmosphere. It's commendable that the sound design with this game as been treated with the same respect as the stunning visuals. The acting and music are first rate and this creates a completely emersive experience.

Survival Horror at its best
First things first: Do not buyt hsi expecting an FPS. Its first person perspective, sure. But its not a 'shooter' by any means. This is a great example of a well made survival horror game. Very scary, very tense, extremely atmospheric perfectly paced and very difficult to master. Start with an open mind, stick with it and its a hugely rewarding game that will draw you in and scare you sensless :) The combat isn't the main focus, and while it might get repetitive at times, it actually adds to the tension as you desperately try to finish of a Zombie before the next overwhelms you. you genuainely panic in combat situations, which coupled with the unforgiving shooting mechanics leaves you struggling to aim and stay calm. All feels highly realistic!GamepAd is used incredibly well. From scanning rooms for loot, accessing your inventory in real time (no pausing for a breather here!) and all manner of other cool uses.Play alone, turn the lights off and the volume up. you're in for a treat :)Pros:Scary, Tense, Difficult - the perfect Survival Horror gameGreat use of the GamePadVery well designed gameLocations are unique and realistic.Cons:Lurning curve is very steep. Will put many off.Could use some different melee weapons and animations to go with them!Only one save slot?!

... zombie survival horror game that heavily relies on gimmicks like doomsday scenario prophecies and perma-death
A ho-hum zombie survival horror game that heavily relies on gimmicks like doomsday scenario prophecies and perma-death. The graphics, music, voice acting are sub-par at best, yet the gameplay can be quite tense and challenging at times, especially for those who have survived for a long time with a randomly generated character.A lack of variety with melee weapons is disappointing, although the restrictive inventory system and rarity of supplies like ammo and health do make things more exciting, and the game makes excellent use of the GamePad touchscreen controller. Multiplayer is a decent distraction, perfect for placing the more experienced player as the survivor and the clueless ones to spawn zombies on the pad. There's even an extra feature that will make you look undead on the camera. Recommended if bought for cheap, but don't expect anything too great.
