After purchasing my '24 Ford Ranger I found I kind of wished I had opted for the 360 cameras but had no real need for all the other stuff that came with that package and couldn justify the price of it ' Just ' for the front facing camera. . So I passed. So I contacted my local Ford Dealership and asked if they could order me a OEM FFC ( Front facing camera ) and install it and I quickly got a resounding no for an answer. ( no fault to the dealership here, its FORD what wouldnt allow them to do it ) . So what do you do ? you go to the aftermarket. After the usual research I found a lot of praise for the Auto Vox brand. 99% of the reviews were good honest reviews stating that don't expect ' Factory like quality ' but camera was decent. Well, after recieving the product and installing it I couldnt agree more. Im pretty impressed with the set up considering the very reasonalble price tag for the model I ordered. Set up was extreamly simple and quick ! Just about 10 min start to finish and that includes setting my preferences with things like brightness and contrast, guideline preference, ect. So far the system has worked flawlessly. Turns right on when you engage it and you can adjust camera angle to whatever suites you and your situation. You can see what model I have ( Solar ) but there are many models to choose from. Also now as of this review comes with an 18 month extended warranty once you register your purchase which was also very quick and simple to do. But heres one more things I REALLY appreciate... Right after I registered it, I was reached out to by Vickey at Auto Vox insuring me that if there was ANYTHING I needed help with or any questions I needed answered to just contact her. WOW, some real quality customer service in this day and age. That meant alot to me and shows me this company is willing to make it Right if its wrong... BIG THUMBS UP there !! So... bottom line is, for the asking price, your getting a SOLID Product from a Solid company. UPDATE: 10/31/2024. Camera died four months after purchase. Just would not power up. After taking all the steps to try and get it going again it was obvious the unit itself was dead. I call to Auto Vox and they got right on it. Just answered a few questions and the next day was told a new camera would be sent out to replace the faulty unit. A day later it arrived and the new one works just fine. Absoulty some of the best customer service out there and I think a lot of other companies could learn something about their customer service from Auto Vox. Its couldnt have been any easier or friendly. Vicky at Auto Vox was great and certainly deserves a Shout it.

Purchased this product for my full size SUV that didn't come with front parking sensors due to capacitor shortages in the recent past. Let me break down this review to a few distinct components. First the packaging and presentation; came in a very presentable package both outside and inside. The quality of the material was great and didn't feel as if you are receiving a cheap item right off the bat. The contents were well contained within different compartments. Now for the Installation ; worked like a breeze. it is a very sturdily built camera and body that fitted well with the provided bracket into the number plate holder. I tried both the up and down positions and preferred the UP position. It would be good for AUTOVOX to consider some sort of theft deterrent when the device is fixed on the TOP position as the single alan key operated screw is exposed and an easy target for theft. However, if you place in the DOWN position due to reversing the device and the housing the screw ends up being facing down and would be very difficult to get into. The wireless connectivity worked within seconds with the monitor unit inside the car. Almost had no set up to be done as both the device and unit comes already paired. Screen Resolution; is good. It is good enough for me but certainly not 2K or higher. One needs to realize that you are just using this device for a few seconds, especially in a full size SUV where the drive cannot see much of those obstacles that may exist at almost ground level. I adjusted the Contrast and Brightness settings to obtain a better image as opposed to stock settings. The Power seems holding up a month from installation. I charged initially using a battery pack and I believe the available light may be keeping the device charged, as the Battery Level shows full all the time. Customer Service is great. I had an opportunity to deal with them on a certain topic and appreciate the polite responsiveness and fast turnaround. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and a month down the line, would recommend for anyone looking for a front/back park assist with very minimal set up effort.

I needed a backup camera for my Truck Camper and thought Solar would be the easier way to go. I have a crew cab long box pickup truck and when I remove the tailgate I lose my truck camera. I wasn’t sure wether the distance of 15ft. between the truck and the back of the camper would have a good constant signal. The signal was amazing providing a rear view image instantly. The image quality is great for a wireless backup camera. The camera build quality is excellent, very rugged and seems to have a good seal from the outside elements. Nice to able to charge a portable battery pack with the Micro USB connector built into the power plug so you can use the battery pack to charge the solar camera which also has a Micro USB when there are cloudy days. The screen is light in weight and the suction cup stuck really well to the windshield. I’m possibly also buying a travel trailer so decided to try more distance testing. I went as far as I could, 40ft. and had no issues connecting to the camera. In reality with a travel trailer it may or may not work that distance. I really like the fact that I can check behind the camper anytime by pressing any button on the screen or the button on the power plug to activate the camera connection. Very happy with the Solar Camera which made it simple and easy to install on the Truck Camper without wires.

This is my second Auto-Vox Backup Camera. I own the previous version for about a year and have been extremely happy with it. I have it mounted on my slide in camper so that when the camper is mounted onto my truck I can see what is directly behind me. It is a life saver to know how close to objects that I am when backing. I leave this mounted to my camper. I have a cap on the bed of my truck when the camper is not installed. I decided it would be nice to have a backup camera for this scenario as well so I purchased the newest version of the Auto-Vox. It works well as I expected. The setup is easy and straightforward. I mounted this one below my license plate. The camera is able to tilt and adjust the angle so that you’re not looking at the ground or the sky if that’s the angle of the mount. I mounted it with screws directly to my license plate. The mount has a slide bracket that the camera/battery slides onto. With the older version, there is no locking mechanism to secure it to the mounting bracket. The newer version has a small screw that performs that function. This will not stop a determined thief but it will stop someone from just walking up and taking it. One of the things that I really like about these cameras is the ability for it to easily come off the mounting bracket so that you can use it for a variety of things where a camera is needed. My wife recently told me that I had a brake light out but didn’t tell me which one. She wasn’t home when I wanted to check it so I dismounted the camera and placed it so that it was facing the back of my truck, stepped on the brake, looked at the monitor and saw that both brake lights were working. Just one example of the utilitarian use for this camera if you wanted to. The only thing that I would like to see is for them to adjust the time that the system stays on. Currently it will stay on a max of 120 seconds. I would like to see it up to 180 seconds. In all reality when the systems shuts down I just push the reset button and it automatically turns itself on again. For those that are interested in this system, note that the system does not come on when your vehicle goes in reverse. The system comes on when you start your vehicle (if you have it plugged in) or when you push the reset button. It has not been a problem for for me. All in all I have been very happy with the Auto-Vox Backup Camera system. It performs its primary function well plus the added bonus of the extra capabilities.

The installation was very quick and easy as described in the product description. It literally took less than a few minutes to install. The camera works well with no noticeable lag. It has a wide angle, which is very useful, and the screen image guidelines fit my vehicle well. I like that there was a battery level indicator on the top right hand corner of the display. You just push the button on the car charger to activate the camera. You can set the time that the camera and display is on to either 45, 60 ,90 or 120 seconds then the display turns off automatically. However, the image quality is not HD. I think the camera is not HD since the display states that it is 1080p. I have attached a picture of the image quality. Overall, a useful and very easy to install a back up camera.
