Not sure, I've only used it on the steel racks in the oven.

Yes, it can be used on the glass. Be wary of shiny metal trim, however. If you can take the inner glass out to clean, so much the better.

Q: Can you put the tops that hold the pans on top of a gas hob into the bags cast iron

Depends on the size of them, if they fit in the bag should be fine.
