Oregon 4.0 x 300mm Mulching Brush Cutter Blade

Used this to rip through a lot of bramble bushes. Made short work of it, reduces them to nothing. So works really well and highly recommend.

what a piece of equipment there was no way I was expecting it to go through so much ,it's vicious so needs respect have a Mitox 28 lh,so just needs an extra 5-10 seconds to get full revs up even with a more powerful machine the results will be the same ,just the time to get the revs up and mulches .start from the top and work down as it needs something to 'bite' on to better than a blade

Do you want a blade that can take every bit of abuse? get the 4.0, Made light work of everything it touches getting the job done alot faster than you would think and went through a steel fence pin in one go as didn't see it amongst all the bushes, any other blade would have split or sent the fence pin flying, but Oregon blade just smashed clean through it with a slight nick to the blade. Only negative is the Aluminium ring it comes with to centre the blade isn't the best but it fit fine, after hitting a few hefty things it ruined the centring ring, it could do with being thicker but apart from that its flawless, blade has abit of weight to it but its what helps, was easy to fit and the blade didn't get blunt considering what its been put through, it will handle anything you throw at it with ease, buy one now and it will pay itself off in the time you save on the first job

It does what it says it should, mulched bramble and other stuff to a fine mulch. Don’t expect to put this on a lightweight machine though, I’ve got this on a 40cc pro-spec husqvarna brush cutter and it knows it’s spooling it up, but once it’s spinning most stuff in it’s path will be chewed up. I have had to sharpen it, but it is doing an eight hour day in heavy material and I’ve not exactly been kind to it. Better value than the stihl version at the best part of four times the price at retail.

I have this on my Stihl FS 131, and works well on my blackberry and bamboo that has taken over the back portion of my lot. It mulches well, which was what I was looking for and does not spray debris upwards like some of my other blades. A few years back I bought some Airecut blades, and found them phenomenal at chopping and mulching but I would be covered in brush shrapnel. For some cuts I still prefer the Airecut as it does not allow long grass to wrap and wind into the spindle, but for out and out brutal mulching this Oregon blade is the tool. My only concern is that I have noticed my Stihl takes a moment to spool up speed, and sometimes there is hesitation. I have weighed the Airecut at 500 gm and the Oregon comes in at a heftier 580 gm. So definitely a heavier blade. I have ordered in the 3 mm blades and will see if it will reduce the wear and tear on my Stihl's clutch compared with the 4 mm. Update: Received the 3mm blades, and significantly lighter. The 3 mm blade weighs in at 430 gm. On my Stihl FS 131, this 3 mm revs very quickly, none of the hesitation that was noticeable with the 4 mm and none of the occasional clutch chatter. Both blades are identical in dimensions other than the thickness. After a few months of using the 3 mm and the 4 mm blade, I must say that both blades have it's place. The 3 mm is a lighter blade, and find it a bit quicker for maneuvering. It spools very quickly and I find it less taxing on the arms when I crank the high branches. On the other hand, doing the ground mulching, the branches and debris can sometimes stall the blade. The 4 mm is a beast, and with it just cranked wide open it seems nothing will stop it, there is so much inertia from the blade in motion. I have noticed that the metal on both the 3 and the 4mm needs to be sharpened often, almost after every hour of use. I do grind a lot of 1/2 to 3/4 inch branches. I do have a dremel tool and sharpening is fairly quick. Some thoughts after 4 years of using these blades: 1. If your budget allows get the biggest engine you can to maximize the potential of these blades. 2. I have destroyed a 15 year old Toro 27cc crankshaft with the 3mm blade, seized up a clutch on a 5 year old 29cc Troybilt. Stick with good quality machines such as Stihl, Echos, etc. 3. Sharpen the blade often to get the most benefit with cutting and mulching. When the blade is dull it does seem to add extra load on the engine. 4. Put a cover over the blade and this allows for a better mulch while also preventing debris from flying into your face.

Excellent blade for dealing with brambles and brush like nettles, dried bracken, young saplings etc. Beneficial to keep the blade sharp (I used a flapper disc so not to remove too much metal) and you'll work out the best way to use the blade, like twisiting the strimmer slightly on the angle when moving side to side or more of a vertical movement for the taller stuff, then running the blade over any large debris laying on the ground. I found that long thick grass can wrap around the wings of the blade and cause it to vibrate due to the weight imbalance but as soon as the blade makes contact with some brush the issue gets resolved. For what it cost, the time it saves and the end result is seriously impressive; wish I bought one years ago. Bear in mind that depending on what your cutting it can throw out some lumpy debris so protect your legs. Not ideal but I removed the guard to reduce the snagging on the brambles so if you do the same make sure you're protected.

What an amazing bolt on to my strimmer. We have an allotment plot where Brambles are the worst, constantly encroaching on to our plot. This thing spun up to speed on the strimmer and demolished an area of 25ft by 10ft in size in about 15 mins. It shredded the new green plant life and made short work the dead very dried out stuff beneath it. Very impressed by this tool. I did sharpen mine before first use to get the paint off the cutting blades. Highly reccommend. Advice though, make sure you buy the right size for your strimmer, I know you can get diff lengths of this tool, it is a little heavy and takes a few seconds to spin up to speed. I dont know what our strimmer is but its mounted like a backpack for me so carries a decent power.

Fitted nicely, on my Stihl FS550 it is a bit more wiggly/vibration than I would like which means I can only use it for about 30mins at a time. I might need to have a go and adjust it or fit another flat washer or something, but it is a bit frustrating. I'm not great with rotary mechanics, so it might be me. I tightened it pretty well with socket set and rubber mallet, so don't think it is slipping. The aluminium insert is fitted and is flat, but could be riding up slightly under the hollow Stihl retaining washer - hence thinking about needing a flat bit to keep it down - just a guess though.

Extremely impressive solid metal bar weed-wacker. Easily takes down thumb thick woody shrubs like Lonicera and Box Elder. Easily attached to my weed-wacker pole, so compatible (just check your unit before). Bbe very careful because this thing will easily take your leg, lol; treat it with respect, lol. Very powerful for clearing woody brush, less ideal for grass, but can cut tall grass if needed. Used it for 2 seasons know and it's still going strong, the red paint on the cutting edge has worn, but it still works perfectly. This is the real deal.

Avec une Sthil FS94C, malgré que ce n'est qu'une 24cc et 0,9kw. A par pour les sections vraiment grosses et les tiges très solides et de gros diamètres, ça broie et sectionne particulièrement bien pour les ronces et tout genre de mauvaises herbes de terrains laissé a l'abandon. ch habe mir dieses Oregon Universal 2-Zahn-Mulchmesser (4,0 x 300 mm) als Dickichtmesser für meine Motorsense geholt, um eine völlig überwucherte Fläche mit dicken, verholzten Brombeersträuchern freizumachen. Es passt perfekt auf die gängigen Aufnahmen und läuft absolut vibrationsarm, sofern die Motorsense genug Power mitbringt. Wer hartnäckiges Gestrüpp und Brombeeren im Garten bekämpfen muss, macht mit dieser Profi-Qualität von Oregon absolut alles richtig. Klare 5 Sterne und eine fette Kaufempfehlung!
