Great quality
These work nicely for a multitude of different locking scenarios.

It works fine.
These locks will do the job. I think the cable is a little long. I used them to lock down my battery box on a camper. I had to tuck the extra cable around itself several times to secure it. That is easy to do and is no problem.

Sturdy Field Locks
The Python cable locks from Master Lock are great for locking down trail cams in semi-secure areas. Cable feels thick and resistant to casual tampering. Not as thick as most cables for trail cams but these fit easily in my Spy Point cams. I’d love to see a camo version for stealth setups. These are a solid field choice for outdoor folks—would absolutely test other versions from this line.

Keeps the honest people honest. Honestly!
This review is for the Master Lock 8417D "Python" Adustable Locking Cable.I purchased the Python to use in conjunction with a Milwaukee 24" rolling tool bag. The Milwaukee is a terrific bag, but lacks the ability to lock it, or even a hasp or latch to which a lock may be mounted.I drilled a 1/4" hole in the front "foot" of the toolbox. That allows me to easily thread the Python cable (which is 3/16 inches in diameter) through the hole and wrap the cable around the toolbox. Once the cable is snug the lid of the toolbox is blocked by the cable. Simplicity itself.I'm not using the Python to prevent the tool bag from being rolled away; rather I want to secure the lid to keep out opportunists, curious folk and, especially, children. Working in someone's home with their children running loose is an invitation for the kids to grab something heavy or sharp from my bag and hurt themselves. The Python snugs the lid, allowing me a bit of piece of mind.As noted in other reviews, this cable is to "keep the honest people honest" - a good pair of side cutters can get through the cable without a whole lot of effort. That to me isn't a down check for my application - if I wanted more security I would use different tool box and a hardened chain.I've rated this unit at four stars because of the perceived weakness of the keys. Two are supplied with the Python, but they appear to be of the same quality as one would get with a decent set of luggage. Something more robust, even if it meant raising the market price of the Python to cover the increased cost, would be appreciated (at least by me, YMMV).The lock is not made in the United States, and doesn't appear to be outdoors friendly. If it gets wet I would advise giving it a dose of WD-40 (which isn't a terrific lubricant but does displace water extremely well). Also I think an occasional splash of lubricant (I'm thinking 3-in1 oil, or graphite) will help keep the internals working, although that isn't indicated on the packaging. The cable itself is coated and seems sturdy enough for my purposes.HTHRegards,Jim

works great on my game cam
The cable is thin enough that anyone with a light bolt cutter could get through it. I use it on my game cams up in the woods, where people are likely to not have bolt cutters ;-) For a bike, it would be more just to keep honest people honest - fine for most application, but I wouldn't leave my expensive bike with only this in a bad neighborhood overnight.

Handy for lots of stuff
This is a very nice product. I use it to lock my helmet and jacket to my motorcycle. It’s nice for that because the cable is long enough to fit through everything. It’s also plastic coated so it will not snag.

Lightweight, Long, Sturdy
While it's true that no lock can stop a determined thief, I just wanted an additional visual deterrent. I wrapped this around my rooftop cargo box and through the roof rails as an additional security measure for a cross-country trip, and I had no complaints. The cable is thin enough to fit through the slots in my cargo box, but long enough to wrap around it, which was an important part of the visual deterrent aspect for me. The lock is easy to adjust, as you can keep pulling the cable through the receiver until it's nice and tight.I would highly recommend using this as a secondary or accessory lock alongside a stronger primary lock.

These locks are PERFECT
Perfect! Exactly as described and easy to use. We are using to secure SUPs to a rack which is an odd use case. The length is a big help and the locking mechanism is excellent. We bought two. Appreciate this , solved a challenge for us and price was right!
