Simple and effective
I had been considering a Furminator, but having read some reviews that suggested it might cut or pull at the hair (accompanied with pictures of cats with bald patches after their over-eager humans went a bit too far) I decided to play it safe - and cheaper - and get the Zoom Groom instead. First impressions: it's a bit uninspiring to look at. A series of rubber cones attached to a twee rubber cat. Hardly an impressive feat of modern engineering, but I'm prepared to be wowed nonetheless. First use: Well there's that 'wow'. My cat has never been one for being brushed. Now he's 13 he'll tolerate it with a standard bristle brush, but it doesn't seem to bring much fur off, and can be a bit unwieldy. He seems quite content with this though, and even started purring up a storm while I was doing it. And the fur! The fur! Just a couple of swipes along his back and sides and so much fur is appearing. The downside is that it doesn't all collect on the tool itself; most of it just pools on the cat, but that's easy enough to deal with. Quite a bit flurries off into the air as well... so be prepared for a bit of a fur storm. Removing the hair that does collect on the 'brush' is very easy - far easier than it ever was with a bristle brush. Cleaning it under the tap afterwards is simple and quick. He's not as keen on it being used on his head - it's a bit too knobbly - so I'll keep the bristle brush for that as it's more gentle and soothing. Bonus use: It seems to work absolute wonders at scraping fur off soft furnishings. I've had to throw blankets and towels away in the past because of the difficulty in removing fur from them. I've just tried the Zoom Groom on a fleecy blanket the cat has been sleeping on lately, and the fur just came right off. Even vacuuming this blanket doesn't get the fur off usually because it gets trapped in the fleecy fibres. Conclusion: So cheap, so effective, bonus uses... I like it so much I wrote a review for it - I never write reviews on here.

Cat spa massage
I decided to give the zoom groom five stars because my darling house cat found it very relaxing. He's a moggy, and would be classed as semi longhair, with a small ruff, underbelly and britches, and a fat fluffy tail. His fur is silky and fine, but it's extremely thick, especially his undercoat. His longest furry areas are about 3inches long. I tried getting him used to a gentle brushing since he was a young boy, but it always turned into a game of rough housing, I would always stop as soon as he lost self control so he wouldn't think it was a game, but failed in the end. It got to the point where he'd get excited and frisky when he saw me get the comb. So in the end I just gave up. I had a cheapo plastic comb because I thought it was a waste to invest in proper combs and brushes, and I'd occasionally run it through gently, down his back and on either side, sometimes the tail, but basically I am not to comb/brush anywhere else (his rules, not mine *eye roll*) The zoom groom has basic instructions that say to brush in a circular motion. It is very soft despite how spiky it looks, which is good because cats have delicate skin. My cat enjoyed it, like a massage, it was able to loosen up the fur in his undercoat, not much actually came off with the zoom groom, but I was then able to gently comb through the loosened fur and I got a decent amount of loose hairs out using the finer comb. What you see in the picture came from his sides and back using the fine comb. Although I still used the comb, the zoom groom help detangle and loosen things up. He found it very relaxing, purring and making the cutest sounds, so over all I am pleased with the product. He did try chewing the spikes, so I will have to hide it when not in use from the brat. But even if it doesn't remove much fur, I still recommend it because you can use it to massage and bond with your cat/kitten.

My cat likes it!!
This is brilliant for dislodging loose hairs on my cat's densely fluffy coat and as it's rubbery I can brush him quite hard with it without worrying about hurting his skin or knocking his hips or elbows which can happen with a brush (he's 17 years old and quite delicate now). The massaging effect of the rubber prongs seems to be enjoyable for him and his fur looks healthier since I've been using it, it definitely gets out more loose fur than his previous slicker brush. I would have given it 5 stars but the only downside for me is that although it does collect quite a bit of fluff in the prongs it also leaves quite a bit of dislodged fluff on top of the fur (which I have to collect up with the slicker brush) and floating around him so it can be a bit messy, all in all though I'm really pleased with it. :)

Best £5 I've spent on my cat
My cat is a moggy that I adopted as a kitten a year and a half ago. Last spring and summer she was shedding a lot, and although I tried using a flea comb (as recommended by the vet) to thin out her fur a bit there was still cat hair EVERYWHERE. Daily brushing/combing didn't seem to significantly cut down on the amount of cat hair on my clothes, furniture, bedding, up my nose - literally everywhere. This year she's fully grown and started shedding already in March. Despite returning to daily combing, she got her first hairball a week ago and I knew something had to be done. After a bit of research I realised that she's likely a good part British Shorthair since her fur is extremely dense (though obviously short). None of my cat-owning friends had ever seen a short-haired cat that sheds as much as this adorable little furball does. I was suspicious of the Furminator, which is expensive and seems to be less well tolerated by kitties, and I didn't think my cat would go for it in any case since she can be pretty fussy about being groomed. The softer rubber of the Zoom Groom appealed to me - as did the price tag. Well I got it three days ago and it's been amazing. I've removed more hair with it in one session (as another reviewer on here says, about two golf ball sized clumps every time I use it) than I ever did with the flea comb. I mostly use it running back and forth along her spine and sides, as the circular motion seems to make her less happy. I find it's helpful to be slower and more gentle when brushing the hair against the growth (from tail to head, for example). It's a good size and weight in the hand, and it's easy to vary the amount of pressure you're using if your cat is like mine and sometimes wants a good heavy brushing and other times will flinch at anything but the lightest touch. Other reviewers have mentioned that the fur doesn't all stick to the Zoom Groom itself and some of it flies about a bit - that's true. I think the best way to go about this is to brush your cat on a flat surface like a desk, table or bed. While you're brushing the cat, stop every few strokes to remove the fur from the Zoom Groom's teeth. Once your cat has been brushed (or has run away when she's had enough!), run the Zoom Groom lightly over the table or bed to pick up the loose hairs. This also works on your clothes and gets a good 75-80% of the fur off. Follow that up with a lint roller (for clothes and/or bed) or a duster (for a desk or table) and you'll find you've virtually eliminated the excess fur. In sum: I love this thing and wish I had bought it last year! Grooming really is important to your cat's health, and your own during shedding season, so if you're on the fence don't hesitate on this one.

Great product - me and my cat approve
I don't normally leave reviews but after getting this yesterday and using it I thought I should. It is fantastic and it got so much fur off my cat. His coat has been looking dull and not feeling very nice but is now brighter and glossier because of all the dead fur that has come off. I held a lickylick with one hand while brushing him and he was quite happy. Seemed to quite enjoy a bit of a brush even when the treat had run out. I would highly recommend.

A great contribution to the cat (and house) grooming kit.
Great item for bonding with your cat by grooming. It does remove loose dead hair and produce purrs but I was a bit shocked by the amount of fur in the air, and coating the bed-cover, and the mog and me. Not a problem on the bedcover though, you just turn the zoom groom over and use the relatively flat side to gently swipe it all up. It cleans the hair off perfectly, leaving not a trace. I thought hmm, went downstairs and found it was equally effective to remove the 'grey' areas where my cat rubs his cheeks across the corner of the sofa, something I had thought I'd have to wash to get clean. I have a mild reservation. I am more used to the furminator which collects the fur as it goes and I think may remove more hair more effectively from the coat because the day after I used the zoom groom on the cat I found he had left me a giant hairball, something that does not happen at all when I use the furminator. On the other hand he doesn't like the furminator as much and it is no use at all for getting hair off sofas, carpets, clothing etc. So I think there is room for both in your grooming arsenal: furminator for primary hair removal and hair ball prevention, zoom groom for a enjoyable polish and bonding session and to clean parts that other grooming tools cannot clean. :-) I didn't try running the flatter side of the zoom groom over the cat though, maybe I missed a trick there.

Cat likes it. Me, not so much.
I bought this on a recommendation from a friend. Like her own Maine Coon, mine hates being groomed - currently with one of the self-cleaning ball-tip brushes. “Zoom Groom”, I was assured, “They love it, it’s like giving them a massage.” I ordered it day before yesterday, and it arrived today. Nothing to complain about, there. Had it not been such a long day, I might have saved the (undamaged) packaging, before going to use it. But, alas, I didn’t. Too late now! And so it was that, after less than 30 seconds of brushing with it - which she seemed to enjoy - I went to clear the built up fur, and realised that one of the teeth has almost entirely detached, most of the way around the base. And it’s the opposite facing to the direction in which I was brushing, so it wasn’t anything untoward, in her fur! Instead - and as someone who has worked with silicon moulds, and silicon of differing strengths - it either looks like the shear strength of the silicon is off, or else it was somehow mixed incorrectly, as the thickness of the silicon, at the bottom edge of the “tooth”, seems thin, or not connected properly to the silicon base, beneath (see photos). Whatever the issue has been, it’s not what I would expect from a brand new item, and a Kong branded item, at that - seeing as how they tout their items’ strength so very much! Had it not been for the fact that she sat for the (short) time I was grooming her, without complaint - something that doesn’t happens with the brush - this would be in the bin by now, brushed off (no pun) as a cheaply made gimmick. As it is, I’ll alternate it with the brush - I had hoped to bin, altogether, but no fear of that happening, now! Second item in a row from Amazon, lately, that hasn’t lived up at all well to the mega star reviews. As she likes it, I’ll give it three stars from the cat, and a distinct “meh” from me. Unimpressed.

One cat loves it, the other not!
This is a rubber brush designed to get loose hairs out of your cats fur. The brush has rubber prongs which are bigger than I expected but they are soft and flexible to the touch. I have 2 cats and thought this brush was worth trying on them. One cat loves it and the other runs away from me as soon as she sees me pick up the brush. It’s a shame as the one that runs away is the long haired and I had thought this would be especially useful to her. However, I will persevere! My other cat is short haired and he absolutely loves this! He rolls over and lets me use it on his tummy which he doesn’t normally even like me to stroke. The brush pulled out alot of hair and left his coat feeling soft and silky. This brush doesn’t give a full on grooming – the prongs are too big for that but it does seem effective at removing the loose hair. Now all I have to do is get the long haired cat to love it as much as the other one already does!

excellent deshedding brush!!
This brush is super easy to use and my cats LOVE it! it’s like a massage! It also is super good at deshedding them and really loosens all their dead fur! it’s not a detangling brush, but it’s really great at getting off dead fur to prevent hairballs! it works well and is lightweight. We have a slicker brush which i find gets the finer plush undercoat, but this really gets all the dead fur, without pulling the hair harshly. It also makes my cats fur shinier and less dense, does a great job at helping them shed their winter coats. I see most negative reviews are because it doesn’t get the undercoat, but it’s not made for pulling out the undercoat like a slicker brush or a rake, it’s just supposed to get out the loose fur that your cat may shed on the ground or infest when cleaning themselves. It doesn’t pull out the undercoat because it’s not made for that! I use it before i use the undercoat brushes because it’s more comfortable for my cats and doesn’t pull their fur. my cats feel so soft after using this brush! - the 1st photo is after maybe 45 seconds of use on my medium-longhair cat. - the video is around the time i stopped brushing, but there’s still lots of fur coming off despite being the end of the brushing session. - the 2nd photo is after about 5 minutes brushing both cats, mostly my darker one.

Amazing massage cum grooming brush!!!
Super quick delivery from Amazon! Thought the brush was a bit soiled I gave it a wash before using on my 3 month old Persians. They just absolutely love it!!! And it did pull out quite some hair. It warmed my heart to see them enjoy being brushed for the first time ever! No doubt this Kong product is a must have. Planning to use it on my cocker spaniel too.

Short hair Bengal cat likes it alot!
Bought this for our Bengal cat that has short hair and it works beautifully, didn't expect to get as much hair as we did. He really seems to like it! When he's relaxed he'll roll over when we start to grrom him with it, it's very cute! Washes super easy, just rinse under water and it's all clean. Very happy with this purchase!
