Hi at what distance are the lazer lines on the floor stay very bright?

The laser lines will stay fairly bright for up to 10 metres if not more depending on floor colour and light conditions.

How do you know if it's level when wall mounted? Do you just level the baseplate that screws onto the wall?

It's only for marking out floors not walls

The beam shines both ways at 90 degrees so if you get one line right the other is 90 degrees to it. I always use the target supplied on the long run and a piece of white card to check your following the line as you are going along. You'll find that on long runs or in bright light the lazer light gets more difficult to see as you get further away.

I am not aware of any facility to alter this machine.If you bought it new and it's not working correctly you should return it. If you didn't buy it new it may have been dropped or damaged some other way. I have looked closely at mine and can't see any way of altering or getting into it.
