well worth the money
As a trumpet player, I am very pleased with this product. It arrived only two days after I ordered it and seems to be a high quility trumpet mute. it fits securely in to the trumpet and has cork strips to stop the bell of the trumpet becoming damaged. it quite significantly reduces the amount of noise and gives the trumpet a sharper sound. it, as in the description, responds excellently to high notes and loud notes of different pitches. i personally bought it due to the low price but i have been very pleased that i bought it as it is excellent product at a reasonably low price.

Lovely sound
I bought this to keep my trumpet down a bit, but where it really shines is its tone. This mute does provide a significant reduction in low-end volume, but it also sounds absolutely great! I've found myself using this more for tone than for noise reduction and, in my opinion, that is where it really shines. It's a lovely piece of kit, and more useful than I could have imagined before purchasing. If you want to keep your volume right down for practicing, maybe get a Shhmute instead, but this is a beast for practice and performance alike!

A fine quality piece of equipment!
Very good quality, nice sound, simply the best mute I can find, and at a fairly reasonable price. The silver part (cup) detaches, and leaves a straight mute, or when attached, a cup mute. This is good - two for one. The cork parts are good, and do not leave marks, or anything like that, overall it is a very nice bit of kit, essential for any quality trumpeter! (I play Yamaha 4335G)

Great mute
Really pleased with this mute. Gives a great tone. After a couple of weeks the stem became too loose to stay in (very common with this kind of mute). A small strip of gaffa up the side fixed it.

There's a much cheaper alternative...
You can get a similar effect using a 99p sink plunger from the hardware stall at the market, but this one looks a lot more acceptable sat on the piano in the living room. If you don't know what it does there are a few videos on youtube, just search for 'plunger mute'. Without needing any change in technique at all it can give a nice rich 'growl' to your blues playing, very satisfying. It's very well made, but a bit pricey so you might want to try the sink plunger first to see if it's the effect you're after.

Sounds great, but that could just be my son!
We bought this for my son for his birthday. It almost makes the cornet sound like a scratchy vinyl recording. It's a great effect. If you're not sure how it will sound, listen to the theme from Disney's Up.

Denis Wick DW5504B Straight mute for Cornet or Trumpet.
The DW5504B brass-end straight mute is a high quality tuned item, which retains the warm sound of the Cornet, also very good for practising the full loud sound. It's worth the price.

Quality
Usual reliable cost effective Dennis wick equipment. Not the best but not expensive either and does the job, prob as good as other harmons mutes without the price tag. Best thing is the cork sticks it in the bell comprehensively and replacement corks are available.
