Good Product
This hard drive works well and was easy to install. It was recognized right away and is a good option for extra storage or a NAS setup. It runs quietly, has plenty of space, and feels like a reliable drive for backups and everyday file storage.

Good Storage Capacity, Sync and Backup Great Speed
The digital drive was compatible for my UGREEN NAS cloud storage drive. It has a good 4TB capacity. The speed is fast when my computer devices sync to the drive. This digital drive was the most reasonable for my budget. It has been recommended by the manufactured of my NAS also. I plan to purchase the 8TB also.

Good drive poor shipping
Good drive. Poor shipping. The drive itself works fine. However the shipping was terrible. I ordered two 4T drives and a NAS. It took 2 weeks to arrive then one of those drives was damaged and in operable. I returned it and order another. The replacement came 3 weeks later. Just in original packaging with no over box or padding. Lucky this one worked but could have been damaged easily the way it was shipped. Definitely not what i expected from an Amazon retailer.

Bought as an External drive, works great, no issues
Picked this up as an external drive for storing images and model files, works great.. no performace issues. Only ever had one WD drive fail in the last 30+ years .. totally my goto when buying drives.

All 4 drives running great in the NAS
Using these in a home TrueNAS machine. Works as they should running full mirroring. Picked WD Red Plus for longevity but performance is great also for 5400 rpm spindles.

Review: My rocky two-year run with WD Red Plus 4TB drives
I built a small TrueNAS box with four WD Red Plus 4TB drives. Within the first year, one drive began throwing SMART errors. Because past RMAs with WD had taken a month or more, I bought a fifth drive out-of-pocket to keep the NAS healthy while I waited on support. Things went downhill from there. Eventually two drives started failing around the same time—the point where this whole troubleshooting saga began. I tried to use a “white-label” WD replacement they’d sent me the year before (kept sealed as a cold spare), but it was dead on arrival. That pushed me to buy a sixth drive to stay afloat and RMA the DOA unit. When the RMA replacement finally arrived, it lasted about two weeks before it started logging read errors and then disappeared entirely from the system. I opened another RMA. As of now, I’ve purchased or received a total of 8 WD Red Plus drives and 5 of them have failed in some way (including the DOA spare and the two-week wonder). I’m still waiting on two outstanding RMA replacements, and I’ve just added another drive to the RMA queue. This round, I cut my losses and bought a Seagate IronWolf Pro 4TB to replace the latest failure. What went well When they work, performance and acoustics are fine for a home NAS. WD does honor RMAs. What didn’t Reliability (for me) was poor: 5/8 drives failed within ~2 years. RMA speed: turnarounds often stretched to a month or more. Confidence hit: receiving a DOA replacement and a replacement that died in ~2 weeks eroded trust. Verdict Based on my experience, I can’t recommend WD Red Plus 4TB drives. The failure rate, DOA spare, and slow RMA cycle created too much risk for my data and too much hassle for me. I’ve moved to Seagate IronWolf Pro to restore some confidence in the array. Tips I learned the hard way Test every spare immediately (SMART short + long) so you can RMA within the seller’s return window. Monitor SMART weekly and schedule ZFS scrubs; act on “pending sector” or read-failure alerts right away. Keep a known-good spare on hand to minimize downtime while RMAs drag on. Your mileage may vary, but this was my honest, first-hand experience with WD Red Plus 4TBs.

Great product but not discrete
Quality product but it was not shipped in a plain box that hid what it was. It was shipped as seen in the pics with a shipping label placed on the retail box, meaning anyone who drove by my house could see a new hard drive sitting on my porch until I came home from work to bring it inside and anyone who encountered it during shipping knew exactly what it was. Considering I've had drives disappear during shipping before I was kind of surprised this was shipped in this manner. Other than that it was as advertised and works as expected as a replacement for a failed drive in my NAS.

Trustworthy Storage
I have been purchasing HDDs for many decades now and I am sticking to the Western Digital brand because I trust WD to reliably store my data (all personal, including many TB of family video). Some HDDs are on 24/7 with constant access and can get hot, especially when the ambient temperature is high during summer, and I choose WD Red for these more demanding uses. As a personal user, I carefully pick the size and style (e.g. Green Blue Black Red, Red Plus, Red Pro) to give the best price per TB and performance for intended usage. I am paranoid about preserving data and have a rigorous strategy of redundant usage and multiple backups which I have had to prove on occasions due to human error. I do not expect HDDs, from any brand, to last forever though some are still going strong after 20 years with no hint of degradation. In my experience, a few % of HDDs start to show signs of problems after 5 years, and I constantly monitor the raw read error count. These WD HDDs keep going reliably with 100% data integrity for years after the first signs of problems, allowing me time to choose how to retire/replace. I have never had a WD HDD fail catastrophically, it is always a graceful degradation, hence why I trust WD to look after my data.
