Marantz HD-AMP1 Audio Amplifier 0.05% 105dB 70W 35W 20-50000Hz Clamp Terminals

The Marantz HD-AMP1 is a giant killer amp. Don't be fooled by the theoretically low amplification of 35W into 8ohms. It's a sophisticated class D-amp with top-grade components and it can drive effortlessly speakers like the B&W 803 D3. I use it with an upgraded Rega Planar 3 turntable and the Shiit Mani preamp. I wish Marantz to produce also an Audiophile Network Audio Player (with or without a SACD cd tray), the HD-NA1!

HD AMP-1 exceeded my expectations. I will not waste time to explain everything that could be read in the professional reviews, I can only tell its not exaggerated. Together with my just purchased Dynaudio Emit M20 speakers could produce decent sound even from YouTube. Readily recommend it. thanks Superfi for the excellent service.

Detail and soundstage are better than one would expect from a class D amplifier with a switching power supply. The low power rating is misleading as well, this amplifier is able to control relatively difficult speakers like the Sonus Faber Concerto Home better than some higher rated class A/B amplifiers.The amplifier isn’t good enough to reveal the full potential of a DAC like the Schiit Yggdrasil but is good for the price. However, it deserved a better DAC section, bass is not well defined and timbre seems a bit off. One wonders why Marantz didn’t opt for a power amplifier to match the HD-DAC1 instead of an all-in-one with a DAC section that is clearly outperformed by DACs like the relatively recent Chord Mojo.

Excellent, quite exceptional, sounding amp. A real sense of 'palpable presence', of the musicians being in the room with you.But the DAC section isn't anywhere near as good, 3 stars at best, it's well worth using a good separate DAC. Still superb value for the amp section alone, though!

This is one great amp. When you take out of the box it just looks & feels very well made. The front is actually brushed metal which makes it look classy. It has plenty of connections for most peoples needs inc. 2 optical, 1 digital coax, a usb dac, & analogue. The amp has plenty of power for my KEF Q700 floorstanders. I use it connected to A NOVAFIDELITY X14 via an ATLAS MAVROS optical cable & the sound is superb. It is detailed & well balanced. There is plenty of base & treble adjustment, or you can use source direct. As some cds can sound a bit too digital you can change the digital filter setting for a more analogue sound. I also use it connected to the tv, so that i can use it with my Amazon fire stick to stream from music unlimited were the sound is also excellent.
