The only HDMI matrix that meets all my requirements
There is plenty of choice in HDMI matrices here on Amazon, but not all are created equal. Many of them are essentially the same cheaply produced units sold under different brand names, and most of them feature outdated specs. I was specifically after a matrix that wouldn't black out both screens when switching the input on only one of them as it's quite annoying when your screen goes black for 2–4 seconds in the middle of a boss fight or Mario Kart session, just because your other half decides to watch the news on the other screen. The only one I found was the YINGLUN 4x2 HDMI Matrix , where the seller confirmed changing input on screen A does not black out screen B and vice versa. While the unit delivered on this front, it refused to work with the PS4 and Xbox One S in surround sound mode. The Wii U and PS3 had defaulted to stereo output after connecting it to the Yinglun switch, but a quick change in the system settings of these consoles rectified this. The PS4 and Xbox One S, however, refused to work in anything but stereo. On the PS4 there is simply no opton to force multichannel output, and the Xbox One S insisted that my 7.2 channel Onkyo AV amp does not support multichannel. The Yinglun matrix then started to misbehave, showing devices on outputs they weren't connected to, e.g. it would show the PS4 on input 1 when it was connected to input 4, etc. Eventually it completely froze and wouldn't change inputs at all. It then turned out it had also shorted my Duronic [HRS1031] HDMI switch that was connected to one of the inputs, permanently destroying it. A replacement was sent out, and while this didn't freeze or show devices on the wrong inputs, it still didn't work with the PS4 and Xbox One S in multichannel audio mode. I recently replaced the destroyed Duronic HDMI Switch with the AV Access HDMI switch and was very impressed with the build quality and design (all connectors at the back of the unit, no insanely bright and unnecessarily large LEDs), so I decided give their HDMI matrix a go too. Well, this matrix is simply put WOW. Like their HDMI switch, the build quality is excellent. The LEDs are tiny, and the power connector can be screwed into the back of the unit to avoid accidental disconnects. Changing inputs is pretty fast, certainly much faster than the Yinglun unit, and doesn't black out both screens when changing inputs. In fact, unlike the Yinglun unit, it doesn't even black out both the screens when they are set to the same input, i.e. both on PS4, and then changing the input on one of them. Top marks! I'd like to point out one thing for people hoping to extract (split off) the audio for use with a non-HDMI AV amp or speaker system. While it does offer this function (on HDMI output 2), it only supports stereo output via a 3.5 mm jack connector. It would have been nice to see an optical SP/DIF connector for 5.1 surround sound support, but as I don't have a need for this it doesn't bother me. I also would like to see an updated version of this matrix that supports modern standards such as HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, and 4K @ 60 Hz. AV Access recently updated their aforementioned HDMI switch to support this, so perhaps an updated version of this matrix will follow some time next year. PS4/PS4 Pro and Xbox One S/X users with 4K displays may want to hold of until then, or look elsewhere, as this unit only supports 4K @ 30 Hz. This is a quality product, it does exactly what it says on the tin, and I will definitely consider AV Access products for future AV needs.

Feels like a quality product.
Used this at an 18th birthday party to display onto two screens, from both a computer and a camera. I needed the matrix interface to maximise the versatility of the outputs (i.e. I could put either input device on either or both screens together). The size of it is really quite small considering what it does, and it is reassuringly weighty. It 'feels' like a quality item. It has a separate power pack with interchangeable plug (for use abroad I expect, although I didn't check the input voltage on the unit). The remote control is idiot proof and is a comfy fit in the hand. The quality of the display is decent enough although both displays started off with a pinkish tinge until I switched each of the outputs over, then back again. All in all, it is compact and gives a good quality signal, but... There is in issue with the amount of time it takes to switch over displays. On the TV, it took about 5 seconds, and on the projector it took nearer 12 seconds. I know this has to do with how the unit communicates with the input and output devices, and in a domestic situation is just fine (I already have a similar item at home for my TV setup). Unfortunately, I was trying to use this unit in a commercial situation, and the lag between switchover was far too much. It worked enough to get me out of a hole, but I'd need to upgrade to something professional if I was to do this again. As for use in the home, or even a man cave, it is ideal. Compact, discreet and does its job without fuss. Would like to give it five stars but that lag has to count. Good product, well made and a well deserved four stars ✨

This is the one to buy.
I wanted a box to feed four inputs into a Panasonic TV and an Optoma projector at 1080p - and this product does it perfectly. Almost instant switching between sources, and everything I have used as an input works fine - even my Roku box which has refused to co-operate with other devices that I've bought previously. It also works flawlessly with my Amazon Fire TV box, Sony Bluray player and Humax Freesat HDR. I also tried my Dell PC and experienced no problems with that either. The only slight issue I have seen is that if I have only had one of my displays turned on, and then switch on the other one and select the same input as I was watching on the first display, then sometimes there is no sound on the second display. But if I select another source for the second display, then switch back, the audio is restored. I can live with that. Overall, this is a quality product that does what it is supposed to, and one I highly recommend.

Broke completely after 1 year
This worked perfectly for about 6 months but then every 3 months or so I would lose a HDMI in until eventually only 1 is left making it an expensive hdmi splitter. I'm out of 1 year warranty so not much can be done.

So, you have 4 devices that you want to switch to either of 2 screens? This will do the job. I've got 2 computers, a PS3, and a cable box as inputs, and can output any 2 of them to either of the two screens, just like if you were physically wiring each device to the TV/monitor that you want it to go to. An added benefit is that you can have 1 device display on both screens simultaneously. I could see this being used for game rooms, where you would want all of your game systems hooked up and be able to play any at the press of a button. I would definitely buy it again if I have the need for it. Note: If you're starting up your game or computer or whatever you're using to input, and you see the screen a weird color, just switch away from that input and go back to it. It will fix itself quickly.

I run two 32" monitors from my home Windows 10 system, but often bring home my Mac laptop from work, where I have a two-monitor setup as well. I wanted to be able to easily switch my monitors to my Mac system without having to plug/unplug HDMI cables in the back of the monitors. This device does this beautifully. I can either push two buttons on the unit itself to switch the monitor sources, or use the remote unit provided with it. Unit is small, sturdy steel case with easy-to-understand labeling. Love it! There is on peculiarity with this unit however. If the computer driving the monitors puts them to sleep, this unit seems to physically disconnect them internall. I am not completely sure about the root cause of the following problem, but every time I wake up the computer or switch between my two computers, the two monitors have either switched places (L/R), or one monitor has reverted to a "standard" 1024x768 mode. Switching places happens on both Mac and Windows, so I think it is truly caused by the HDMI Matrix Switch.

This product is indeed all you hope it could be. I use this to control video signal flow at the presenter podium in 3 college classrooms. Here's what I needed: -Ability to switch between 2 HDMI sources (imaging system + desktop computer), with options for 2 (professor laptop and raspberry pi or similar device) more when necessary - 2 outputs (1 for projector, 1 for computer monitor) - 1/8" Stereo output for powered speakers that cover the room - Ability to switch inputs and outputs easily from the device. I did NOT want to be married to a remote that we would eventually lose. - Needed to be made well, durable, has to last for years. All objectives have been met. This thing is very simple and will work fine as long as you use decent HDMI cables. No complaints at all. It has been put to use daily now for 2 weeks of college classes with no glitches or issues.
